This is a superb hand-blown example of an Irish made, mid-Georgian, cordial wine drinking glass with a thick double series opaque twist (DSOT) stem, dating from the middle of the 18th century, circa 1765 to 1770. These glasses are very collectable. It is made from English lead glass which is relatively heavy and has a soft grey colour, with slight age related wear as expected with over 200 years of use. The glass has the usual striations, inclusions and tiny bubbles you would expect to see in 18th Century glass, which gives these glasses their unique charm. Rare, very early George I period silver brandy/spirits warmer, Joseph Clare I, London, 1714. Wonderful, historically interesting 308 years barware piece. Classic circular tapering form with a shaped base, heavy solid silver with a beautifully turned oak handle. Fully hallmarked on the side of the body Period initials on the bottom of base N E M Measurements: 3.32 inches in diameter, 5.25 inches to the to of handle, 2.13 inches height of vessel. 1714 was the year George I ascended the throne, making this an interesting, very early piece of Georgian silver. Excellent piece in very good condition commensurate with age. Beautiful old patina on the silver and the fine oak handle. A magnificent, fine and impressive antique William III English Britannia standard silver flat topped quart tankard; an addition to our range of collectable 18th century silverware. This magnificent antique William III Britannia silver tankard has a plain tapering cylindrical form onto a spreading collet style foot. The surface of this 18th century quart tankard is embellished with an impressive engraved leaf and floral bordered coat of arms depicting party per pale to the first a chevron between three lion's heads erased and to the second a bend raguly. The upper and lower portions of the body are encircled with bands of tooled decoration, with an applied moulded border to the upper rim. This antique quart tankard retains the original double stepped flat topped, hallmarked cover surmounted with an impressive volute scrolling thumbpiece. The cover is further ornamented with a band of tooled decoration to the rim accented with an applied shaped thumbpiece to the anterior edge. The hinge is decorated with ribbed ornamentation and retains the original pin. This antique Britannia standard silver tankard is fitted with an S-scroll handle ornamented with a plain rounded terminal. The spreading collet foot is encircled with a band of applied moulded decoration to the rim. Imperial quart = 2 pints/1.14 litres. Britannia silver - The Britannia silver standard of 958 (95.84% of fine silver), denoted by the icon of the seated Britannia holding an oval shield, was introduced by William III in 1697. This was to indicate the slightly higher standard of silver from sterling silver standard of 925 (92.5% of fine silver). The armourial bearings are those of the Wyndham and Penruddocke family, to commemorate the marriage of Henry Wyndham and Arundel Penruddocke on 11th September 1735. These glasses are very collectable. It is made from English lead glass which is relatively heavy and has a soft grey colour. The RF (round funnel) bowl is well engraved with OXO under rim and a facet cut bowl base, sitting on a a solid stem, over a conical foot with a snapped off pontil below to the underside. These antique silver labels or tickets are further ornamented with a bright cut engraved and pin struck ribbon bow designs accented with suspended leaf festoons. The body of each label is engraved with the individual wine or spirit: 'Port', 'Geneva', 'Claret', 'Rum' and 'Madeira'. These Georgian silver bottle labels are suspended by two ring loops to the corners of the urn designs and connected by silver round link chains. The stem leads to a conical foot having a rough snapped off pontil mark to the underside. There are no chips, cracks or any evidence of restoration.
