Antique Pair Sauce Tureens Dishes Manner of Andrew Fogelberg 19th Century
Located in London, GB
This is a exquisite and rare antique pair of English silver plated sauce tureens in the manne of Andrew Fogelberg, circa 1820 in date. They are of classical urn shape each with a classical maiden plaque and featuring delightful beaded rims with elegant side fluted handles. the lids have foliate decoration with nut finals and they are raised on superb oval bases. In excellent condition, these wonderful sauce tureens are ready to grace your dining table. A truly exquisite pair that would make a fine addition to any antique collection. Condition: In excellent condition with no dings, dents or signs of repair. Please see photos for confirmation. Dimensions in cm: Height 15 x Width 24.5 x Depth 10.5 Dimensions in inches: Height 6 inches x Width 10 inches x Depth 4 inches Andrew Fogelberg His name suggests a Swedish origin and possibly arrival in this country already trained as a goldsmith. First appears in London as plateworker, Church Street, Soho, in the Parl. Report 1773. His mark alone was therefore presumably entered in the missing register a little before this. Second mark entered as a plateworker, in partnership with Stephen Gilbert, July 1780. Address: 29 Church Street, St Anne's Soho. Heal records the partnership at this address until 1793.; also, Fogelberg alone till 1800. There is however some confusion with the mark of Alexandra Field which may have led to false assumption to the length of his career. Either alone or with Gilbert his productions show an elegant, restrained classicism, particularly in his speciality of the use of small cameo...

Set Antique Porcelain Dishes in Coalport's Red Chrysanthemum Pattern circa 1810
Located in Katonah, NY
We are pleased to offer this set of 12 antique porcelain dishes painted in Coalport's "Red Chrysanthemum" pattern, England, circa 1810. The dishes are covered with exquisite red chrysanthemums and gilded leaves in a swirling ornamental pattern (see image #2). This early 19th century, English pattern was inspired by similar Chinese patterns of the 18th century. In Chinese lore, chrysanthemums represent a happy life. Having chrysanthemums was also thought to prolong life. Therefore, these dishes have a benevolent motif of happiness and well-being. The rim of each dish has rich golden English gilding. The body of the Coalport porcelain is whiter than the Chinese porcelain, which creates a striking contrast with the red flowers. This group would be wonderful in a cabinet or arranged on a wall. The set comprises:; -3 square dishes, a pair and a single dish: $750 each, L 7.75 in. x W 7.75 in. x H 1.88 in. -rectangular serving...
