A fine and impressive antique Georgian English sterling silver ‘rum’ decanter label / bottle ticket made in Newcastle; an addition to our wine and drinks silverware collection.
This fine antique George III sterling silver decanter label / bottle ticket has a subtly convex, plain rectangular cut cornered form.
The body is embellished with the engraved inscription ‘RUM' to the center.
The antique decanter label is suspended from two ring loops to the upper border connected by a silver belcher style chain.
This fine example of Georgian silverware has been crafted by the Newcastle maker Thomas Watson but assayed in London; this was an occasional practice with smaller items of Newcastle silver, where no town mark was struck.

Created by Storr while working for Rundell, Bridge and Rundell, Jewelers and Goldsmiths to the King, this magnificent piece truly represents the sophisticated style of the renowned firm and the enormous talents of Paul Storr. Applied and engraved decoration envelop this masterpiece equipped with a carved handle, lion's head spigot and spectacular lion's paw supports. This exceptional antique George III sterling silver desk Standish has a navette shaped form onto four bracket feet.
This inkstand is encompassed with an applied thread decorated border, in addition to the contemporary engraved initials 'WW'.
The rim of the body of the sterling silver inkstand is ornamented with a paralleling applied reed decorated border.
The internal wirework style frame of the stand is divided into three rounded supports.
Each internal compartment retains the original rounded glass bottles with cut glass ornamentation in addition to impressive scalloped bases.
The ink, pen/quill and pounce bottles retain the original plain silver cylindrical mounts fitted with push fit hallmarked covers.
The rim of each circular cover is encircled with applied moulded borders and bears the corresponding functional pierced decorated holes.
This large silver ink Standish was crafted by the renowned London silversmiths Henry Chawner.
Such original ladies examples, in perfect condition, are becoming increasingly difficult to locate.

The raised border is embellished with an impressive bright cut engraved crest of an arm in armour embowed, holding in the hand a scythe in bend Dexter.
Each antique plate is ornamented with a fine and impressive gadroon decorated border to the rim.
The circular well of each plate is plain and unembellished.
The underside of each plate retains the silversmith’s centre punch mark.
These exceptional Georgian plates were crafted by one of the most famous and revered London silversmiths Paul Storr.
The surface of each plate has a fine color and patination.

Often called the “Queen of metals,” silver has been universally adored for thousands of years. It is easy to see why it has always been sought after: It is durable, strong and beautiful. Event- and wedding-planning company maestro Tara Guérard says that some “investment pieces,” such as this widely enamored alloy, should see everyday use, and we’re inclined to agree.
“Sterling-silver flatware is a must-have that you can use every single day, even to eat cereal,” she says. “Personally, I want a sterling-silver goblet set for 12 to 20; I would use them every time I had a dinner party.
