Pelegoso technique A type of glass characterized by countless irregular air bubbles (pulighe) within the vitreous wall, which deliberately obscure its transparency. It is obtained by pouring substances such as petrol into the pot, which produce a boiling over of the glass in fusion.

1959 Hargo Creations (HAR) Cobra Snake Parure completed with necklace, earrings, bracelet and brooch. This coveted gilt green enamel jeweled cobra snake design is from the HAR Fantasy Collection of 1959. The bracelet, earrings and brooch are each signed HAR, the necklaces from this collection are not signed. This set is intricate, elaborate, and highly crafted. The color is light teal green enamel is accented with glass and aurora borealis rhinestones.
Necklace 16" long and the cobra centerpiece is 4-1/4" wide 2-1/2" at its longest point. The cobra necklace has the gold tone braided chain connecting both sides of the cobra in the front with a slide in clasp that closes securely and tight.
Earrings 1-1/2" x 1-1/4". Clips are strong and tight, very sturdy.
Bracelet has a spring back at its tail. It measures 1-1/2" high at the head and will fit a wrist of 6-1/2-7-1/2.
Brooch is 2-3/4" long and has a turning clasp that is secure.

Impressive large size and fine quality craftsmanship, richly detailed, sculpted, polychrome decorated wooden case, surmounted by an ornate carved pineapple topped urn finial, garnished with a single garland swag, over a contoured and rounded solid wood frame creating a most elegant elongated banjo cartel clock silhouette, adorned with brilliant water gilded running ornamentation, outlining the beautifully aged light and airy muted pale green paint finish.
Featuring the original hand decorated enamel dial signed Antonio Carcano (1755-1820) a distinguished scientific instrument inventor.

Having a hand-blown glass thermometer retaining remnants of the hand-painted paper label inscribed with atmospheric condition details, over an early barometer with hand painted dial and metal hands, protected behind convex glazed glass face.
Mechanical:
The wooden planked verso is fitted with an open channel that retains the original mechanical components, including a pair of liquid metal mercury filled glass tubes, vacuum mechanism, long column blown glass tube, stringing, and more. It does not appear to be working / operational, the string/rope deteriorating with age, etc.. but having the original parts is an exceptionally rare occurrence and highly unusual, as workings were commonly damaged and lost centuries ago.

Antoine Carcano (c. 1755-1820)
An early maker of barometers, thermometers, and an inventor of various scientific instruments. Of Italian descent, he became famous in Paris, first at 37 rue de la Roquette and then at Place Dauphine. He supplied barometers and other scientific instruments to the Ecole Militaire in 1786; the following year he supplied a tube barometer to British optical instruments manufacturer Peter Dollond (1731-1821). Made in the 1960s from over 40,000 matchsticks by Bernard Martell. The artist spent over 1700 hours meticulously reproducing the architectural splendor of the Brighton Royal Pavilion in a 1:100 scale model. It was first exhibited at Marlborough House and then for many years alongside the Pavilion, in the town of Brighton, England.
The Royal Pavilion was built as seaside palace for King George IV by the architect John Nash in the Anglo-Raj style, very much in vogue in the English Regency period with its domes, minarets and intricate embellishments, inspired by the architecture in Colonial India. The building with its lavishly decorated interiors was finally completed in 1823 and remains very much intact to this day due to ongoing important preservation work.
