According to the Rolling Stones hews closely to the formula set in 2000 by the publication of The Beatles Anthology. Like its predecessor, it's a beautiful coffee table tome with hundreds of gorgeous photographs, from childhood pics of Mick Jagger and Keith Richards to concert shots from the 40 Licks Tour. The text is taken from recent interviews with the band's four latter-day members (Mick, Keith, Charlie Watts, and Ronnie Wood). Notably missing, however, is any contribution from former bassist Bill Wyman, who left the band in the early '90s and published his own history of the band in 2002, Rolling with the Stones. Where Wyman is an obsessive collector and diarist, the other Stones are more impressionistic in their memories, lending an approach to history as casual as the band’s concerts are rigorously planned and staged.
The first half of the Stones story has plenty of high drama (tours through the segregated South, Brian Jones's death, Altamont), which no one seems eager to reflect on deeply. (Charlie is the only one even to mention Altamont.) The more recent years has seen a long string of ever-more-successful tours and ever-less-popular albums, interrupted only by Mick and Keith’s near divorce in the '80s, plus rehab stints for Charlie and Ronnie. While The Beatles Anthology offered the surviving members' interpretations of their experiences at a distance of 30 or more years, the Stones are still living the tale they're trying to tell--and they aren’t always the most self-aware narrators. Or generous: Wyman's three-decade tenure is given short shrift, but the book finds enough space for some unnecessary digs (Wyman has "tiny hands," we're told, and an "almost effeminate" style of playing).

An Albert Einstein typed & signed letter, dated June 10, 1939.
Fresh to the market after 84 years in the ownership of the original recipient's family.
In 1939, on the eve of WWII, Einstein became involved in national campaigns to raise money and awareness for Jewish refugees fleeing Nazi Germany for the U.S.
On June 10, 1939 he personally sent letters to several Jewish civic leaders, thanking each of them for their contributions to the cause.
This example was sent to the prominent New York businessman Mr Nathan Leavy.
It's typed on a single sheet of Einstein's personal stationary, embossed with his address at Princeton University.
The letter measures 8.5'' x 11'' and is presented in very good condition, with just faint horizontal mailing folds and minor creasing.
The content of this letter is a profound, personal statement on Albert Einstein's personal Jewish heritage.
The text is based almost word-for-word on a radio address he gave on March 22 on behalf of the United Jewish Appeal.
The letter reads in full:
"My Dear Mr Leavy:
"May I offer my sincere congratulations to you on the spledid work you have undertaken on behalf of the refugees during dedication week.
''The power of resistance which has enabled the Jewish people to survive for thousands of years has been based to a large extent on traditions of mutual helpfulness. In these years of affliction our readiness to help one another is being put to an especially severe test. May we stand this test as well as did our fathers before us.
"We have no other means of self-defense than our solidarity and our knowledge that the cause for which we are suffering is a momentous and sacred cause.
"It must be a source of deep gratification to you to be making so important a contribution toward rescuing our persecuted fellow-Jews from their calamitous peril and leading them toward a better future."

Otherwise called Pickett’s Charge, the battle occurred on July 3, 1863. Pickett’s corp commander, Lieutenant General James Longstreet was placed in charge of the attack despite his hesitations. In an attempt to gain control of an important supply route, nine Confederate brigades charged across three-quarters of a mile of open ground against cannon fire to take Cemetery Ridge from the defending Union Army. Despite their overwhelming numbers, the Confederate forces were repelled with considerable casualties marking not only a decisive victory for the Union, but also the beginning of the slow defeat of Lee’s Army. The furthest the charging forces advanced before being repulsed would forever be known as the “High Water Mark of the Confederacy.” The Confederate army never recovered from the losses at Gettysburg and it effectively ended Lee’s campaign into Pennsylvania.
The engraving gives the perspective from the Union rear, one that encompasses most of the battlefield, from Big Round Top on the left to the northern reaches of Cemetery Ridge on the right. Presented is an original 1875 map of “North America.” The map was issued in Volume 1 of the Ninth Edition of the Encyclopædia Britannica, published in Edinburgh. The map was drawn by famous Scottish mapmaker John Bartholomew. The map depicts North America, to include Greenland, the Dominion of Canada, the United States, Mexico, the countries of Central America, and the islands of the West Indies. Prominent rivers, mountain ranges, and cities are labeled on the map, and country borders are emphasized in red.
The Encyclopædia Britannica has been published continuously since 1768, appearing in fifteen official editions. The landmark ninth edition of the Encyclopædia Britannica, often called "the Scholar's Edition," was published from January 1875 to 1889 in 25 volumes. The editor and author of the “Foreword” was Thomas Spencer Baynes, the first English-born editor after a series of Scots. After 1880, Baynes was assisted by William Robertson Smith. The 9th edition is often lauded as a high point among early editions for scholarship.
The 9th edition was far more luxurious than any previously printed Encyclopædia Britannicas, with thick boards and quality leather bindings, premier paper, and a production which took full advantage of the technological advances of printing in the years between the 1850s and 1870s. The publishers took advantage of the new ability to print large graphic illustrations on the same pages as the text, as opposed to limiting illustrations to separate copper plate engravings.
