About the Item

For more than two decades, the Vitra Design Museum has been making miniature replicas of the most important pieces of its design furniture collection. The Miniatures Collection summarizes the entire history of industrial furniture design, ranging from Historicism and Art Nouveau to Bauhaus and New Objectivity, from Radical Design and Postmodernism to the present day.Measuring exactly one-sixth the size of the historic originals, the chairs are all perfectly scaled and accurately recreate the tiniest details of construction, material, and color. High standards of authenticity even include natural wood grain, reproduction of vines, and replication of elaborate craftsmanship techniques. All this has made the miniatures valued collectors' items and excellent teaching tools for universities, design schools and architectural firms.
