Gufram Jolly Roger Pirate Chair by Fabio Novembre, Black

About the Item

Italian genius designer Fabio Novembre was born in Lecce in 1966, graduated from Milan University of Architecture and studied film in New York. In 1994 he opened his own design studio in Milan, and has since launched extensive design collaborations. Fabio excels at telling stories with avant-garde, bold furniture designs, especially a collection of furniture inspired by the human body. Designed by Fabio Novembre and born in 2013, the Jolly Roger armchair is Gufram's first product to be moulded and the first to be free of polyurethane soft parts. Jolly Roger is a seat reminiscent of a skull, with a world map embossed on the back of the seat used by pirates of the Pacific. Consistent with the attitude of all Gufram products, Jolly Roger, far from boring interior design standards, is an armchair that represents a free stance. From the name "Pirate Chair," Jolly Roger is a tribute to Gufram's rule-defying pirate spirit.

Swivel version is for indoor use only. DIMENSIONS: D. 32.6", W. 35.4", H. 53.1", Seat H. 16.1" FABIO NOVEMBRE uses furniture design to tell intense and fascinating stories in which the protagonist is often the human figure. This human figure is capable of becoming abstract and universal, able to propose a mythical beauty as occurred in Greek art. So that Nemo, a face with classic features, is hollowed out to create an inhabitable space. The result is a head-armchair to be lived from the inside. Like a mask, it simultaneously conceals and reveals its inhabitant. Fabio Novembre said about Nemo: "In 2010 it happened that the name "Nemo" immediately evoked the famous little fish, protagonist of the movie of the same name, made by Pixar in 2003. If this question had been asked at the end of the nineteenth century, the answer would have probably been Captain Nemo...
