Afra & Tobia Scarpa "121" Dining Chairs for Cassina, 1965, Set of 8
By Cassina, Afra & Tobia Scarpa
Located in Lonigo, Veneto
Afra & Tobia Scarpa "121" dining chairs for Cassina, red leather, Italy, 1965, set of eight. Iconic and charming, the model "121" by Afra & Tobia Scarpa shows once again the Scarpa's typical double trestle structure with the characteristic rounded joint. The straightforward and minimal design is like a cubical volume; the supports, on the other hand, are slender, anatomically shaped surfaces. The seat and back are shaped in plywood and attached by bolts to crosspieces along the center that offer extreme comfort. The back has a cut in the lower part, required due to the presence of a reinforcement that reacts to torsion stress, which is strongest at this point. We can do custom restoration and special reupholstering. Our atelier guarantees the excellence of Italy through the traditional art of craftsmanship. We do offer a dedicated customization service thanks to our team of expert craftsmen and artisans. Contact Modernab Gallery...

Carlo Scarpa "1934" Dining Chair for Bernini, 1977, set of 6
By Carlo Scarpa, Bernini
Located in Lonigo, Veneto
Carlo Scarpa "1934" dining chair for Bernini, walnut and reddish brown leather, Italy, 1977, set of six. Initially designed for Scarpa's own Venetian house in 1934, this model came up to production only in 1977. This chair demonstrates his architectural attitude toward furniture design. The sophisticated and right-angled base contrasts with the backrest essentiality, further enriched by its curvaceous shapes. A remarkable detail is an open cut on the back that diverges at the bottom, resulting in an unusual yet genuine form. Although an apparent disharmonic look is created, these details enhance the chair's elegance. We can do custom restoration and special reupholstering. Our atelier guarantees the excellence of Italy through the traditional art of craftsmanship. We do offer a dedicated customization service thanks to our team of expert craftsmen and artisans. Charlotte Perriand Berger Wood Stool by Cassina
By Cassina, Charlotte Perriand
Located in Barcelona, Barcelona
Stool model Berger designed by Charlotte Perriand in 1953-61. Relaunched by Cassina in 2011. Manufactured by Cassina in Italy. Reclaiming simple materials and basic shapes, with an eye to architecture and mountain life, led to the creation of two historic design low table-stools inspired respectively by the milking stool used by mountain shepherds in the French town much loved by the author. Placed individually or in lively arrangements, the two low tables bring the pleasing lightness of solid wood to indoor settings emphasized by the continuity of the grain between the top and the edges and the countless natural variations in the wood. Each piece is made of unique solid wood, so every piece will be different from one another and not exactly as the one on the photos. Both pieces are inspired by the mountains. While the latter takes its name from the milking-stool used by alpine shepherds, the former is inspired by the French locality much loved by designer and architect Charlotte Perriand. These furnishing accessories stand out for the honesty of their simple shapes and for the concrete expression of their materials and function. The turned seat meets the stylised legs both in the Tabouret...
