George Nelson & Alexander Girard Wall Mounted Cabinet, 1964

About the Item

An extremely uncommon wall-mounted cabinet designed collaboratively by George Nelson and Alexander Girard in 1964 as part of the Herman Miller accessory line. The cabinet features two doors which open up to four shallow shelves and a bright orange interior. Other features include brass door pulls and hardware, a solid walnut case, and a simple French cleat hanging mechanism on the back which allows incredibly easy wall mounting. Overall great vintage condition with some general cosmetic wear: a couple nominal blemishes to the front, some chips to the orange paint in the interior, oxidation to the brass hardware. The walnut case has been refinished and is smooth and beautiful. The original owner used this as a spice cabinet in their kitchen so the inside smells a little spicy, but that will fade in time! This would be perfect for showcasing your little jars of marijuana, or any collection of miniature items really, or it could continue its life as the worlds coolest spice cabinet.
