About the Item

Elegant and sophisticated drop front desk designed by Gilbert Rohde for Herman Miller as part of the much sought after Palladio series, circa 1940’s. The desk features a burl veneer fall front, over burl front drawer, over an open storage space with a black Inter. The case has picture frame style molding, also in burl, it rests on a recessed plinth base, and has walnut veneer sides and top. We believe the brass Chinese style pull was an alteration done by the decorator back in the 1940’s. This example is in good, original vintage estate condition showing only minor signs of age and use, please see images. We have also listed the companion mirrored glass front cabinet separately, at Barbarella Home, on 1st Dibs. Total H 37 x H of opening at lower section 11.5 x W 37 x D 17 inches.
