About the Item

This George Nelson "Omni" Modular Wall Unit transforms the iconic shelving system into a statement of modern luxury. This example features bespoke rose-gold aluminum, imparting a warm, contemporary sheen that elevates its mid-century pedigree with fresh sophistication. The structure remains faithful to Nelson's vision: slender, spring-loaded tension poles—now rose-gold—ascend from floor to ceiling, supporting free-floating teak shelves with effortless elegance. This modular marvel requires no wall mounting unless desired, enabling it to function as either wall-depth shelving for display or a sculptural room divider. Rose-gold brings a subtle yet decisive shift in tone. Where traditional brass evokes vintage glamour, this pink-toned alloy exudes modern poise and allows the wood's grain and warm hues to pop with contrast—especially under interior gallery or boutique lighting. Why This Version Matters: Extremely rare finish: Original Omni units almost exclusively appear in brass or gold tones. Rose-gold is virtually unseen, making this unit singularly collectible. Timeless modularity: Designed for adaptability, this system can be recomposed across ceiling heights or layout needs—flexing with the rhythms of modern space design. Architectural minimalism: The tension mechanism visualizes balance and lightness—this model even more so, thanks to the subtle blush of its poles against richly toned wood. Proven provenance: Attributed to George Nelson’s Omni group for Herman Miller, this system is a coveted example of American modern engineering. Ideal for design connoisseurs, collectors, and visionary interiors, this version of the Omni system delivers both mid-century authenticity and contemporary warmth—function meeting artwork in a rare finishing grammar. These rose gold aluminum tension poles are hard to find. The color and finish set the tone for this sleek and versatile wall unit. The "Omnibus" or "Omni" shelving system is a modern marvel designed by George Nelson. (4) spring loaded tension poles provide architectural support for (9) walnut shelves without the need to anchor into your wall (unless you want to). An additional set of two support spanners are included if your ceiling height doesn't provide the perfect tension. This 3-bay unit can be displayed in reverse, with the poles against the wall, depending on your practical and esthetic preference. We love displaying the poles on the outside to make a bold statement and show off the awesome color. There are tons of extra shelf brackets too! Seriously, you could add another 8 shelves and still have some left over. The original owner had this paired with a virtually identical version with rose gold uprights and shelf brackets. That version can be combined and is also available and sold separately. This system relies on adjustable braces to hold the beautifully patinated walnut shelves. The braces can be easily loosened with an allen wrench to allow for shelves to displayed in virtually infinite positions. Screws are also provided to secure the shelves to the brackets. Scanned copy of original instructions included for easy assembly. The exact length of the rails with the spring mechanism is 249 cm at its longest length. We measured the differential and the spring only compresses 3 cm. So the shortest size is 246, with the spring fully compressed. There's not much wiggle room, but keep in mind that the 4 rails could easily be cut down to accommodate a shorter ceiling. Inversely, you could fashion some sort of block underneath each rail to raise up the entire system to accommodate higher ceilings. As pictured: 242.6 cm Wide × 33.7 cm Deep x 246 - 249 cm Height allowable (approx). Shelves 81.3 cm Wide × 30.5 cm Deep (each) (4) rails (4) spring pipes (9) Walnut Shelves (25) Brackets with braces (2) Wall Mounts

Lighted Custom Made Modern Cherry Buffet Dry Bar With Wine Rack and Bar Cart
By Brown Saltman, Jens Risom, Foster-McDavid, Arne Vodder
Located in Chattanooga, TN
Please believe me when I say pictures don't this piece justice. The cherry wood shimmers and gleams with an almost indescribable Iridescence that looks like rivers of honey that form the ebbing and flowing grain. The tones and hues of the piece change depending on how the light hits it and where your eye catches it. You'll see amber, ochre, honey, and umber. We purchased this cabinet from the son of the original owners who had it custom made in the 1970's. Although it looks similar to the works to Jens Risom, Arne Vodder, and Brown-Saltman, this is a custom, made 1 of 1 credenza. There are many unique aspects to this piece that seem inspired by many designers of the period. A large cherry door on the left conceals open cabinet space with removable / adjustable shelves. The right has a faux-door panel that is made to resemble the one on the left. However, this faux-door is actually the front panel to a roll-out bar cart. This handsome server sports two drop-leaves that double its counter space. This mini buffet...
