Arne Vodder Sideboard in Teak with Reversible Doors

About the Item

Arne Vodder for Sibast Møbler, credenza model 29A, teak, metal, Denmark, 1959 This iconic sideboard in teak is designed by the Danish designer Arne Vodder. The typical refined Vodder details can be found on this sideboard such as the characteristic drawers with the eye-shaped handles. Highly versatile item with plenty of storage space. Very rare and special detail of this cabinet is that the doors are finished on both sides, one is in teak veneer and the other side in black. Therefore you can use and adjust this credenza to your own taste.  Arne Vodder (1926-2009) should be counted among the most influential Scandinavian Mid-Century designers, although he is not as well known as for instance Hans Wegner or Arne Jacobson. Once a student to famous furniture designer Finn Juhl, who later became his friend and business partner, Vodder started out as an architect who designed low-cost housing, later on he began designing furniture. Although his designs are anything but low-quality, his aim for functional design that could be used by all remained important. He designed amongst others for Fritz Hansen & Sibast.
