We would like to offer you this truly exquisite, early Biedermeier walnut chest of three drawers and vitrine. The piece was made in Vienna circa 1820-25.
Viennese Biedermeier is distinguished by their sophisticated proportions, rare and refined design and excellent craftsmanship and continue to have a great influence on modern design.
The piece have beautiful highly figured walnut veneer and fine details with lovely light deep amber color and 200 years old patina.
The brass hardware, lock and the key are original. It has the original antique glass with tiny bubbles and irregularities. it's amazing that these glass windows have lasted two centuries.
Pieces of such quality as this fine, exceptional Viennese Biedermeier cabinets are very rare and hard to find.

The top of Sarrancolin marble above a tambour with a central mount depicting Minerva. The marquetry depicting allegories of Geography and Astronomy. The interior has a green-leather covered pull out writing slide below an arrangement of drawers and cubby-holes. The back and sides intricately inlaid with marquetry of military and Maritime trophies. The sides with pullout leather-lined slides. The kneehole with a frieze drawer and three short drawers to the sides.

This desk is inspired by the bureau de roi, begun by Jean-François Oeben and completed by Jean-Henri Riesener for Louis XV in 1769 (now at Versailles) featuring similar marquetry panels, as well as a bureau à cylindre, also by Riesener, formerly thought to have been made for King Stanislas of Poland, but now identified as being supplied to the comte d'Orsay (now in the Wallace Collection). The bookcases have beautifully shaped Breche d'Alep marble tops above a single drawer. Each with an open adjustable shelf, and cupboard below. Raised on shaped legs, with gilt bronze handles, edgings, corner mounts and apron. Shelves are 27cm deep 19/25cm cupboard height is 55cm
The pair are in excellent condition for their age, showing some light surface marks and vey light knocks in places. They have been wax polished. There is a slight blister to the plum pudding veneer on one door, you should be able to make this out in photograph number 13. The marble tops have some light nicks to the corners, as shown.
The shelves are fully adjustable to the open bookcase and the cupboard. The drawers have dovetail construction and are made of oak. Each drawer has turned drawer stops to ensure they do not fall out. One of the turned pegs is missing to one drawer on one side. The cupboard doors have a newly made key for the locks. The locks are inner stamped, 'Duvivier 77, St. Antoine/Paris.'
Veneered in plum pudding mahogany, with a solid mahogany frame. The backs are in solid oak. Plum pudding mahogany is a rare and highly sought-after variety of mahogany wood, with distinctive swirling patterns and rich colours.
