Yankee One Design Class Hull Blueprint

Hull section blueprint for the Yankee one design class. This is a very detailed blueprint with an incredible amount of information. Kawase Hasui Japanese Woodblock Print Mount Fuji in Moonlight, Kawai Bridge 1947
Located in Studio City, CA
A beautiful and rich woodblock print by famed Japanese artist Kawase Hasui. This print titled "Mount Fuji in Moonlight, Kawai Bridge (Tsukiyo no Fuji, Kawaibashi)" was originally published in 1947 and it depicts a man heading home crossing the river on the Kawai bridge as evening descends with the majestic Mount Fuji in the background. This wonderful image is widely considered to be one of Hasui's masterworks - with the rich blue tones of nighttime and the complexly composed placement of Mount Fuji. The woodblock print is signed Hasui and sealed Kawase, published by Watanabe Shozaburo. A rarer and harder-to-find, very coveted image by Hasui. Would make a fantastic addition to any Japanese or Asian art/ print collection. Hasui's work can be found in numerous prominent collections/museums including: Los Angeles County Museum of Art Museum of Fine Arts, Boston Harvard Art...

Corita Kent Original Serigraph Vietnam War Protest, "Wouldn't You Go to Jail.."
Located in Phoenix, AZ
Original serigraph by Sister Mary Corita Kent (1918-1986). Sheet size: 25"h x 30"w. Titled “Would You Go to Jail if it Would End the War? Quote by activist Daniel Ellsberg. Important & rare serigraph protesting the Vietnam war. Signed lower right in ink. Ca. 1971 Loosely tipped onto a black mat board measuring 26 x 31 inches. Neither matted nor framed. In excellent condition with no damage. Sister Corita Kent (1918-1986) was a nun and art teacher at Immaculate Heart College in Los Angeles. Her departure from the school (and the order) in 1968, was partially related to tension between the order and the church over the progressive reforms of the Vatican II movement, but it was also timed with her own artistic commitments and rising renown. Throughout the 1960s, she made radio and TV appearances and lectured around the country. Before Warhol made the medium famous, she was working in serigraphy (screen-printing) because it could be cheaply mass-produced and widely disseminated. Her lively, colorful works speak through graphic simplicity as they combine Bible verses, brand logos, literary quotes, and even Beatles lyrics...

Antique and Vintage Prints for Wall Decor

Prints are works of art produced in multiple editions. Though several copies of a specific artwork can exist, collectors consider antique and vintage prints originals when they have been manually created by the artist or are “impressions” that are part of the artist’s intent for the work.

Modern artists use a range of printmaking techniques to produce different types of prints such as relief, intaglio and planographic. Relief prints are created by cutting away a printing surface to leave only a design. Ink or paint is applied to the raised parts of the surface, and it is used to stamp or press the design onto paper or another surface. Relief prints include woodcuts, linocuts and engravings.

Intaglio prints are the opposite of relief prints in that they are incised into the printing surface. The artist cuts the design into a block, plate or other material and then coats it with ink before wiping off the surface and transferring the design to paper through tremendous pressure. Intaglio prints have plate marks showing the impression of the original block or plate as it was pressed onto the paper.

Artists create planographic prints by drawing a design on a stone or metal plate using a grease crayon. The plate is washed with water, then ink is spread over the plate and it adheres to the grease markings. The image is then stamped on paper to make prints.

All of these printmaking methods have an intricate process, although each can usually transfer only one color of ink. Artists use separate plates or blocks for multiple colors, and together these create one finished work of art.

Find prints ranging from the 18th- and 19th-century bird illustrations by J.C. Sepp to mid-century modern prints, as well as numerous other antique and vintage prints at 1stDibs. Browse the collection today and read about how to arrange wall art in your space.
