A magnificent sculptural piece, created by the artist goldsmith Arthur King at his atelier in New York city, back in the middle of the 1960s. This colorful pendant-brooch is very rare and has been crafted in solid yellow gold of 18 karats with textured finish. Fitted with a hinged double stick pins with a security trombone lock and a safety hook to wear as a brooch or a pendant. Has a total weight of 65.8 Grams and a measurements of 73 mm by 50 mm (2.83 x 2 Inches). Stamped with the maker's mark, the gold assay hallmark and signed, "KING 18KT". Arthur King, was a renowned American master jeweler located in New York city that work between the 1960 and 1970. French Vintage Brooch Wild Rose Clip Pin 18k Gold Estate Jewelry
Located in Beverly Hills, CA
A stunning French brooch with ruby, sapphire and diamond that is a classic example of the 1960s floral design brooches. It’s a three-dimensional 18k gold Wild Rose brooch. This colorful French flower pin is made of 18 karat yellow gold and set with diamonds, rubies and sapphires. The flower petals are made of round faceted ruby (total weight approximately 3.80 carats), the seeds are round brilliant cut diamond (G-H color, VS clarity, total weight approximately 1.10 carats) and the leaf is accented with round faceted sapphire (total weight approximately 1.20 carats). The diamonds are set in platinum which accentuates their whiteness. Measurements: 2 ¾” x 1 ½” (7 x 4 centimeters). Weight: 26.5 grams. Stamped with French hallmarks for 18 karat gold and platinum, serial number. Since we started to make our very first steps into the jewelry world, vintage brooches and pins have always been our favorite pieces. Wearing a brooch is a smart, unique way to express your personality and style. Pin it to your lapel, scarf or a bag, and with just one brooch alone you can create the whole new fashion piece out of any garment or accessory. Some brooches could be worn as pendants, so you get two pieces in one. A brooch is an amazing jewel that is fun, elegant and expressive at the same time. French vintage brooches are even more special to us. Being famous for its extraordinary craftsmanship, each French maker has their own recognizable take on it. Either it’s a prestigious Cartier or Van Cleef & Arpels or non-branded French brooch, we appreciate its sophisticated beauty and exquisite quality. One of our all-time favorites is a dress clip. The design came from 1920s and since then has been appreciated by the jewelry lovers for versatility and original look it provides to any style. Choose and pin down your own fabulous version of a Vintage French brooch.

Antique and Vintage Brooches

Antique and vintage brooches, which are decorative jewels traditionally pinned to garments and used to fasten pieces of clothing together where needed, have seen increasing popularity in recent years.

Given their long history, brooches have expectedly taken on a variety of different shapes and forms over time, with jewelers turning to assorted methods of ornamentation for these accessories, including enameling and the integration of pearls and gemstones.

Cameo brooches that originated during the Victorian age are characterized by a shell carved in raised relief that feature portraits of a woman’s profile, while 19th-century micromosaic brooches, comprising innumerable individually placed glass fragments, sometimes feature miniature depictions of a pastoral scene in daily Roman life.

At one time, brooches were symbols of wealth, made primarily from the finest metals and showcasing exquisite precious gemstones. Today, these jewels are inclusive and universal, and you don’t have to travel very far to find an admirer of brooches. They can be richly geometric in form, such as the ornate diamond pins dating from the Art Deco era, or designer-specific, such as the celebrated naturalistic works created by Tiffany & Co., the milk glass and gold confections crafted by Trifari or handmade vintage Chanel brooches of silk or laminated sheer fabric.

Brooches are versatile and adaptable. These decorative accessories can be worn in your hair, on hats, scarves and on the lower point of V-neck clothing. Pin a dazzling brooch to the lapel of your blazer-and-tee combo or add a cluster of smaller pins to your overcoat. And while brooches have their place in “mourning jewelry,” in that a mourning brooch is representative of your connection to a lost loved one, they’re widely seen as romantic and symbolic of love, so much so that a hardcore brooch enthusiast might advocate for brooches to be worn over the heart.

Today, find a wide variety of antique and vintage brooches on 1stDibs, including gold brooches, sapphire brooches and more.
