This is a remake of a design which was first advertised in Mademoiselle magazine in 1937. This brooch was featured in a 1959 advertisement.
Trifari is an American jewelry company founded in 1925 which sold costume jewelry to the middle to high end market. In 1930, Alfred Philippe, an immigrant from France, joined the company and became its lead designer. Philippe in his previous position in Paris had collaborated with Cartier and Van Cleef & Arpels, which influenced his designs for Trifari. In the 1930s, Trifari's jewelry was frequently used in Broadway productions. Their designs were also popular in Europe, owned by the Countess of Polignac as well as madame Lanvin's daughter and the director of Lanvin. Trifari also designed two sets of faux-pearl jewelry for Mamie Eisenhower. In 1955, Trifari won a landmark lawsuit protecting its copyrighted designs which were being copied by other costume jewelry companies. Born in Hamburg, Karl Lagerfeld settled in Paris in 1954. His design of a coat won him the International Wool Secretariat and allowed him to work for the famous couturier Pierre Balmain. He then became the designer for Jean Patou.
Because of his ability to revive and reimagine brands that had stagnated, in 1984 Lagerfeld was given the reins of Chanel.
Lagerfeld's collections for Chanel, in particular, testify to his talent for synthesizing the old and the new. From Watteau (spring-summer 1985 couture) and Serge Roche (spring-summer 1990 ready-to-wear) to hip-hop fly girls (fall-winter 1991 ready-to-wear), surfers (ready-to-wear Spring-Summer 2003) and Ancient Egypt (Pre-Fall 2019), Lagerfeld drew inspiration from each season to redesign Chanel signatures.

This stunning, fine and impressive garnet brooch/pendant has been crafted in 15k yellow gold and silver set.
The brooch has been modelled in the form of a crown/coronet.
The band of the crown is embellished with five individually collet set oval faceted cut garnets.
The lower portion of the band, arch and cap of the crown are ornamented with twenty-five claw set mine cut diamonds, integrated with bands of bead decoration.
The upper portion is embellished with a further collet set oval faceted cut garnet, representing the ball of the crown, surmounted with a plain yellow gold cross.
This brooch secures to the reverse with a hallmarked 18k yellow gold hinged pin and safety clasp fastening.
