The idea of fish as good luck exists in many cultures but most likely has its origins in China, where the character for fish (yu 鱼) is pronounced the same as the Chinese character for surplus (yu 余), thus the connection between fish and prosperity. Also, Pisces friends, this little fish is especially perfect for you! The figural fish is beautifully articulated, so the body moves— almost like magic! I love that he has a red stone for his eye. The color of the metal is very iridescent, with tones of both gold and silver, so it works on a chain of any tone, and is easy to mix with other jewelry. Measures 34 mm total with bales; the actual fish is 27 mm long.

This stunning Christian Dior choker necklace was created and manufactured by Grosse in 1958. This piece was crafted by Henkel & Grosse for Christian Dior for their 1958 collections when Marc Bohan was Head Designer of the House. The choker boasts a gilded metal multi-chain pattern embellished with an intricate braided lace design and a central dangling pendant. The locking mechanism of the box is delicate and precious, having a clasp that slides to open and close it. The necklace is marked on the underside with two tiny gilded tags that read Grosse © - 1958 and the CD logo.
The necklace is in good condition for its age, with a minor discoloration on the metal.
Measurements: 15.38 in total length (39 cm) - width is 0.63 in wide (1.5 cm) - the central pendant is 2.63 in long (6.7 cm).

This stunning rare Bakelite long necklace was hand-crafted in France in the 1940s. The piece features a beaded design with an articulated crib toy doll pendant. The beaded necklace boasts autumnal colors with a lovely, warm palette of yellow butterscotch, red tea amber, green moss, cocoa brown, toffee brown, caramel brown, and ginger orange, many with marbling and swirling. The necklace has brass hardware links and a spring ring closing clasp. There is no visible maker's mark.
The necklace is in excellent condition, with minimal wear on the brass links.
Measurements: The necklace's total length is 24.41 in (62 cm) - The drop is 20.47 in (52 cm) - The pendant is 1.44 in wide (3.7 cm) x 9.07 in long (23 cm).

A new form of Bakelite called Catalin was introduced in 1929, featuring a beautiful range of colors and creating an unbelievably cute aesthetic for these children's objects.
Gone were the old-fashioned silver and ivory teething rattles of the Victorian age. In the early 1930s, children had brightly colored plastic crib toys which were safe and indestructible. The condition of many of them today attests to that.
In the United States, one of the most popular manufacturers was Tykie Toys of Piqua, Ohio, which was in business until the late 1940s. Their designs included a range of little doll characters.
Other crib toys designed included bell boys, sailors, soldiers, and black American or African-inspired characters.
There was a huge fascination for anything exotic and people from far away, and the craze for jazz meant that black musicians were trendy at the time.
New York designer Jan Carlin made stunning Bakelite jewelry out of old pieces in the 1970s.

Henry Perichon Serpentine Chain Necklace with Jeweled Talosel Pendant

French jewelry artist Henry Perichon (aka Henry) designed this elegant brass and Talosel resin necklace in the 1960s. The long necklace features a brown-beige Talosel resin ball pendant topped with topaz orange crystal faceted rhinestones. The necklace is finished with a gilded brass serpentine chain ornate with natural quartz beads and a hook-closing clasp. This piece is unsigned, but the beige-brown Talosel pendant and the specific ornate hook closing clasp are unmistakable artist signatures.
The long necklace is in good condition, with minor wear due to age.
Measurements: The necklace's total length is 29.13 in long (74 cm) - The drop is 16.57 in long (42 cm) - the pendant is 1.19 in diameter (3 cm) x 1.57 in high (3.9 cm).
Note: Henry Perichon (1910 - 1970), whose artist name is Henry, is one of the most inventive jewelry designers of the period. His studio was in Lyon, working on a medium such as bronze, silver, white metal, or Talosel resin.
