Dennis Leon, was a San Francisco Bay Area sculptor and art instructor Mr. Leon was chairman of the sculpture department at the California College of Arts and Crafts in Oakland from 1972 to 1988. He remained a faculty member until his retirement as professor emeritus in 1993. A vibrant work in pastel with the energy and texture seen in the work of Wolf Kahn. He was born in London, England and emigrated in 1951 to the United States, where he studied at Temple University in Philadelphia. He graduated with art degrees, including a master's degree in fine art. He served in the U.S. Army and the Army Reserve from 1957 to 1963. In 1959, Mr. Leon joined the faculty of the Philadelphia Museum College of Art. He also worked as an art critic for the Philadelphia Inquirer until 1962. Paper mache "Les Argonautes" Artist: JS. Ferlay Vallauris Workshop "Les Argonautes", Vallauris: Isabelle Ferlay (1917-?) And Frédérique Bourguet (1925-1997) Isabelle Ferlay and Frédérique Bourguet founded their ceramic workshop in Vallauris in 1953, which they named "Les Argonautes", in reference to the famous Greek epic. Isabelle studied painting at the Fine Arts school of Lyon in 1940, then she attended the Fine Arts in Marseille. Finally, she finished her artistic training in Montpellier, at the Fontcarade national school, where she learned ceramics. Françoise dit Frédérique Bourguet studied at the Beaux-Arts in Montpellier until 1945 and it was in Sèvres, in Françoise Bizette's studio, that she trained in the art of ceramics. She created her first workshop in Paris in 1945, which she shared with Valentine Schlegel until 1951. The two women ceramicists then practiced modeling technique. It was in 1953 that she met Isabelle Ferlay and together, they decided to set up a workshop in Vallauris. They produce shaped pieces, sometimes molded, made of earthenware, enamelled in bright colors. In the 1970s they made stoneware cooked over a wood fire. Some ceramists frequented their workshop, notably the very talented Jacques Innocenti and François Raty.

She studied Design at the Art School of the University of Chile, from which he graduated in 1966. Later he moved to the United States to study drawing at Foothill College in California. In 1976 he traveled to England where he completed a Master in Art Theory and History at the University of Sussex. The following year he studied lithography at the Brighton Polytechnic Institute. In 1980 he returned to the United States and entered Stanford University to study sculpture with Richad Randell. In 1984, he completed his artistic apprenticeship at the University of Berkeley, California, conducting a paper workshop dictated by Joan Rhine.
