"Nectar of Flowers II" Pencil & Acrylic Painting 51" x 39" in by Hend EL Falafly Medium: Pencil Colors & Gold Paper on Acrylic on Canvas "Eve's World" Concept: “ I still care about the woman in my work and the embodiment of her feelings, thoughts, dreams and hopes through my canvases and my pencils. She appears as the hero in my artistic work ; which actually reflect the reality of my life, and the fact that women have the finer qualities of beauty, tenderness and femininity. I have seen in women material fertile for study and drawing in repeated multiple positions, Through the body language, which is a fundamental element in my work and its effects on the emotional state, stressing through the colors, composition, lines and pencil direction. The exhibition works express a mystical view , I mean the spiritual direction, which is similar in meaning to the cases of asceticism that are expressed in some of the personalities of my artistic work, in its feelings that extend to the human dimension and drama sometimes. This is also shown in my choice of warm colors, and the keen sense of the movement in my work in terms of the repetitions as a future movement and spontaneous movement of brush on the surface of the canvas, as show in the work of the group of girls where intimacy and friendship is newly expressed. Through the body language i was able to express my message in the shortest way. It is a message that shows through movements, expressions, inuations ,facial expressions, hand & feet movemets ..etc And women are the most creatures that uses this language, there is no doubt that they can express the feelings that are buried in the way that I used in my work to show what a woman hides inside her and what she wants. My technique at this exhibition: I used the acrylic colors as a background on the canvas then painted it with pencils and wooden colors to show the details of my individual elements. I used warm colors, such as brown and yellow, with its derivatives, since each color inside the work has its own meanings, which greatly affects the feelings of the recipient. My style is characterized by symbolic realism, which is based on color symbolism as well as the movement and the butterfly element, which is evident in most of my work. ” Hend El Falafly. "Reproach" Painting 51" x 59" inch by Hend EL Falafly
By Hend EL Falafly
Located in Culver City, CA
"Reproach" Painting 51" x 59" inch by Hend EL Falafly GLOW All of the works in this collection depict the symbiotic exchange of energy between the female and the butterfly. Butterflies catch on the enticing scent of the spiritual essence of all of nature’s creations from flowers to humans and travel from faraway places, resting delicately on different parts of the women’s bodies, to gather and inhale their beautiful scent. As the female part of any plant, Hend expresses these women as flowers themselves; ones that these butterflies seek out, and in turn the women reflect the golden light of the butterflies. Their glowing color seemingly captures the spiritual integrity of these women; the light of God, purity, peace, and their innate connection with Mother Nature expressed in the synergetic relationship between these women and their butterflies. We feel there is a continuous flow of energy exchange throughout this exhibition. Hend employs a newly experimented palette in serene monotone earthen tones, a departure from her previous bold blacks, yellows, and reds. She demonstrates an excelled development in her play of light and shadow on the faces of these women, and the gazes of her subjects mirror this newfound earthen palette, as they are at once softer yet deeper. There is a more intimate revealing of and connection to, these women’s expressions and emotion which she achieves through a refined and textured anatomical precision and realism using hundreds of pencils lines as her base, along with the application of golden butterflies which she adorns her characters with as though they were a natural part of their being. Above all, it is this intangible exchange of mystical, temporal, and kinetic energy between the kindred spirits of women and butterflies that creates an enlightening glow, both physically and spiritually. ABOUT THE ARTIST Born in Cairo 1979, I work and live in Cairo, I got a Bachelor of fine arts in 2001 cum laude with honors, "first in the college," worked demonstrator college Graphics Department in 2001, and ranged in functionality even function assistant professor , I practice the art since 18 years and you 12 solo exhibitions including: exhibition "The hidden beauty" safarKhan "Egypt" 2015 , "seven sins...

Old Friends 2022 Acrylic, Color pencil, on Washi (Japanese handmade paper) over wood panel. Brooklyn-based Japanese artist Masaya Nakayama creates work by wrapping wooden panels with Washi (Japanese handmade paper) followed by “drawing” with a special painter's tape. After covering the panels with a mix of acrylic, colored pencil, and gold leaf, Nakayama pulls up the tape to reveal his motif.
