Kaoru Kawano Signed Lifetime Edition Japanese Woodblock Print the Big Owl

An engaging and quite coveted work by famed Japanese artist Kaoru Kawano who was known for his whimsical portrayals of women, children, and animals. Stylistically, he was one of the first Japanese artists to combine Western-style elements with the traditional methods of woodblock printmaking. This work is known as "The Big Owl" Kawano's owl images are some of his most popular works, this one in particular.
This print is hand signed in pencil and sealed (in red) by Kawano within the image.
This work is a quite rare self-printed lifetime print. Prints made and signed by Kawano are becoming harder to find.
A very beautiful and rich image. Would make for a great addition to any Japanese art and print collection or eye-catching stand-out accent work in about any setting.
Frame dimensions: 21.25" high, 16.25" wide, .5" deep

from the Qijia culture, Northwestern China.
Including our “Certificate of Authenticity”
To worship heaven with a bi explains their importance and use in ancient Chinese culture.
This group would make an instant collection for reference study, trading, making into your own pendant jewelry, or new year gifts.
Dimensions will vary: 1.5-2.8 inches diameters. Quality will vary from good to fair- please refer to the photographs. Shapes will include round, nearly round, and irregular styles. Serious parties may request more photographs.
A brief history follows. Note the stunning green and brown calcification and hues combination. We acquired these 20 years ago on one of our dozens of trips to China, northwestern China, Lanzhou area.

For British-born furniture designer Andrianna Shamaris, the Japanese concept of beauty in imperfection isn’t limited to her Wabi Sabi collection. She embraces it in her New York City apartment as well. In the living area, for instance, she retained the fireplace’s original black marble while swathing its frame and the rest of the room in bright white.
“We left the fireplace very clean and wabi-sabi, so that it blended into the wall,” says Shamaris, who further appointed the space with a hand-carved antique daybed whose plush pillows are upholstered in antique textiles from the Indonesian island of Sumba.
