‘Djinn’ Easy Chairs and Ottoman by Olivier Mourgue for Airborne
Located in ŁÓDŹ, PL
'Djinn' easy chair and ottoman by Olivier Mourgue for Airborne International, France, 1964-1965. Made of a tubular steel frame with rubber singles, foam and woolen fabric. The set is after fully renovation with the original specifications with use of the highest quality foam and rubber. It is again upholstered in a luxurious woolen "plush" fabric from Belgium. The chair stands on stainless steel slides to protect the chair and fabric. In excellent condition. Both are original pieces from the 1960s. This set is the same as the red chairs used in the movie "2001: A Space Odyssey" by Stanley Kubrick. Those pieces are a part of Center de Pompidou and the New York's MoMA collection. This epic set of modernism from the Mid-20th Century is as beautiful as it is comfortable and will surely become a delightful piece of furniture in your home. Condition: This “Djinn” set is in perfect condition, after fully renovation process, has new stripes, foam and was reupholstered in luxurious woolen fabric from Belgium. Chair dimensions: Width 70 cm / 27.56 in. Depth 76.2 cm / 30 in. Height Seat Height 67 cm / 26.37 in. 39.37 cm / 15.5 in. Ottoman dimensions: Width 72 cm / 28.34 in. Depth 58 / 22.83 in. Height 40 cm / 15.74 in. About the Designer: Olivier Mourgue (French, born 1939) is a French artist and industrial designer. Best known for his design of the Djinn line of furniture, Mourgue's aesthetic is characterized by brightly colored jersey fabric stretched over structural steel frames that are filled with polyether foam, creating a unified, futuristic, alien-like modular form. Born in Paris, France in 1939, he began his career with an innovative design for a chaise lounge in 1964, after which he expanded his original furniture line to include loveseats, stools, and anthropomorphic chairs. Despite also producing paintings and drawings, his career was ultimately dedicated to industrial design, and provided a quintessential aesthetic of 1960s Modernist furniture...

Seating as Minimalist Sculpture, 4 Elements by Uredat, 1969, Mohair Upholstery
Located in bergen op zoom, NL
Amazing, museum quality, modular 'CORBI' seating set, composed of four elements, designed by Klaus Uredat for 'COR', Germany, 1969 complete with the original purchase invoice dated 1972. After receiving many requests to do so, we have carefully unpicked and removed the original custom order pop art upholstery and have now recovered the set in a more neutral, high quality mohair upholstery. A rare, beautiful and highly sculptural pure elemental design, the large dimensions of each .Corbi' seating element allow for them to be used equally as either individual lounge chairs or as a modular sofa. This particular set is a must for serious collectors, this set comes complete with the original German purchase invoice from 1972, which also confirms the additional expense of the custom order upholstery, we have carefully unpicked and kept the original upholstery fabric should the buyer wish to retain it for provenance (please see photos 14 and 15 which illustrate the set with it's original upholstery). The sculptural 'Corbi' modular lounge chair was designed in 1969 and only remained in limited scale production for a few years up to circa 1974. Today this super elegant design is both very popular and now extremely difficult to find due to the passage of time and the limited total production numbers so a large set of elements such as this, is really a rare opportunity. Each 'Corbi' element is composed of two independent Minimalist sculptural forms, one base element and one cylindrical seat back. With the base elements positioned end to end, day beds may...

Superb Pair of Suede Willy Rizzo Lounge Chairs, Signed Studio Willy Rizzo, 1969
Located in bergen op zoom, NL
Extremely rare pair of signed Willy Rizzo lounge chairs finished in suede with stainless steel bases. These are very early examples which were produced by the 'Studio Willy Rizzo' in Rome in 1969, recognised by the Willy Rizzo signature in the fabric. Original Signed early period Willy Rizzo lounge chairs are very rare, 95% of the output of this design were produced as either two, three or four-seat sofas and the individual lounge chairs are very rarely seen on the market today. This iconic design featured prominently in the prestigious Italian design periodical 'Casa Vogue' throughout the early to mid-1970s including a feature on Rizzo ad Elsa Martinelli's own home in St Tropez, France in the October 1974 issue which illustrates this design. Please see image 4. These rare chairs have had their upholstery completely renovated including new seat support strapping, new foam and suede upholstery to the original specifications. The Willy Rizzo signatures from the original upholstery have been carefully cut from the original worn fabric and sown to the underside of each chair to maintain the authenticity. Photos of the restoration process are available on request. Please see image 10 as an example. Literature:- CASA VOGUE, October 1974 (features this design in the home of Elsa Martinelli and Willy Rizzo in St Tropez,France). See image 4 CASA VOGUE , JUNE 1975 CASA VOGUE, September 1975, Please see IMAGE 9 CASA VOGUE, November 1976, Please see IMAGE 8 Willy Rizzo is best known as a photographer. Louis Durot Pouffesses Chair, Signed, 1990
Located in Culver City, CA
Designed and crafted by French Pop Artist, Luois Durot, this piece is sure going to be a conversation piece. Is it a tongue? Is it a bum? It's called the Pouffesses chair and it's definitely a fun piece that makes a bold statement in any room! While the chair is certainly a bold piece of functional pop art, it looks fantastic in the gallery, flanked with a Vladimir Kagan cloud sofa, and Paul Evans cube table (as photographed). We also have this piece among Olivier Mourgue, Pierre Paulin and Verner Panton pieces and not only does this piece hold its own, it makes a statement. This piece would look incredible in any modern, mid century modern, or contemporary environment. Louis Durot's pieces have sharply increased in popularity in recent years-- being currently styled by top interior designers. A quick search online will yield a treasure trove of these pieces being used in a number of absolutely stunning contemporary environments. Louis Durot, born 1939, is a French pop artist who narrowly escaped deportation in 1943 by missing the train to Auschwitz. Gathered in Magagnosque ( Alpes-Maritimes ), it is there that he discovered the pleasure of sculpting the earth and making objects from it. In 1960, he enrolled at the Faculty of Science, where he obtained a diploma in “propaedeutics – Maths 1 Mécagène”. In 1963, he became a "gluer" for two months and then an engineer at Equipiel, where he was responsible for calculations and resistance measurements to develop prototypes of nuclear power plants. When the French branch was abandoned and became a research company, Equipiel offered him a one-year training in organic chemistry. Between 1966 and 1972, Louis Durot was at the head of a dozen research contracts. In 1964, Louis Durot founded the Freelane Studio which aims to bring together artists from various disciplines with common artistic expectations. The Freelane Studio thus brought together the jazz journalist Gilles Brinon, the painter Jean Ihallero, Maxime Defert... It was thanks to them that Louis Durot met the painter François Arnal , who introduced him to the French sculptor César in 1966. Louis Durot becomes César's assistant for a year, in order to put his qualities as a chemical engineer at his service. In César's studio, he improves his knowledge of polyurethane foam and the artist's foam creations, his expansions. Thanks to César, Louis Durot met Pierre Restany (founder and mentor of the New Realists group founded in 1960), Arman and Robert Malaval...

Contemporary Wood Lounge Chair by Tadeas Podracky, "The Methamorphosis" Series
Located in Barcelona, ES
Tadeas Podracky Lounge chair From the series “The Metamorphosis” Manufactured by Tadeas Podracky Produced in exclusive for Side Gallery Prague, 2021 Mixed media, plastic, wood, textile, foam Measurements 180 cm x 120 cm x 120h cm 70,9 in x 47,2 in x 47,2h in Edition Unique Piece Concept The Metamorphosis collection seeks to enhance the emotional bond to our surrounding environment. During the Coronavirus outbreak Podracký returned to Prague his home town and spent a couple of months in a quarantine in his studio there. Access to materials was minimal but he turned this handicap into a research opportunity and started to work only with material found around the studio or that were easy to access, such as wood, textiles, trash such as old car parts, old ceramic pieces or broken glass sheets. Tadeáš realized that these materials had a certain authenticity and so began reevaluating the way he approached the materiality, challenging himself to dis-acknowledge deeply rooted principles of formal design, interrupting established practices of conventional construction methods. The designer was seeking the authenticity of expression and changed his design methodology based on the intuitive use of materials and emotional decisions regarding structure, shape and the construction process. The aim was to let the object grow through his hands by gluing and combining different elements, reminiscent of the process of a bird...
