About the Item

Born in the spring of 1958, this elegant wall-unit hutch by Hans J. Wegner for Ry Møbler stands as both a design marvel and a structural symphony. Composed of two distinct yet interlocking sections, each component locks and slides into the sculptural support panels like a perfectly engineered puzzle, requiring no hardware—a quiet tribute to mid-century Scandinavian ingenuity. Its silhouette balances scale with architectural grace, ensuring both visual impact and spatial refinement. The upper tier reveals birch-lined interiors behind cathedral-grained sliding doors, equipped with recessed circular pulls—a serene stage for curated objects or delicate glassware . Below, the lower tier presents six drawers, each highlighted with dark tawny rosewood pulls that punctuate the warm teak’s glow with quiet elegance. This RY‑20 model transcends the role of mere furnishing—it is at once a dry bar, china cabinet, credenza, and architectural room divider, all unified in a single, beautifully tiered form. The masterful blend of teak and pine, coupled with unadorned craftsmanship, remains a consistent hallmark of Wegner’s design philosophy, where functional clarity and material integrity converge. From a tactile perspective, the piece demonstrates thoughtful reuse of varying teak tones—each panel, door, and drawer possesses its own grain narrative, accented further by the tonal depth of the rosewood hardware. Behind its clean lines lies a world of texture and subtle contrast, designed for both handling and admiration. Restoration: All surfaces have been refinished (even the top of upper unit) by our in-house cabinet shop. Bottom cabinet has a few ghost scratches that could not be fully removed (see pics) Repaired corner chip on right-side sliding door. Only minor imperfections remain Measures: 71ʺ Long × 19.5ʺ Deep × 71ʺ High
