About the Item

A rare and early IT drop leg side table, abbreviated for Incidental Table, designed by Charles and Ray Eames, produced by Herman Miller in the late 1940s. This folding table features a wood veneered plywood top with softly contoured edges and a thin, beveled profile. The chromed tubular steel legs collapse inward, allowing the table to be stowed flat. Tension from the cross-braced rod system stabilizes the form when open. Among the earliest postwar furnishings produced by Herman Miller under the Eames name, this table explores ideas that would later be more fully resolved in their plywood and fiberglass works—portability, engineered strength, and economy of means. This is the perfect companion to an early LCW for any Eames collector. Designer: Charles and Ray Eames Manufacturer: Herman Miller Origin: USA Date: 1940s Dimensions: 21.5" H x 18" W x 17" D
