Antique GiltFiligreeSet FauxEmerald Chrysoberyl Pearl Gold Link & Chain Bracelet
Located in Chicago, IL
Possibly as old as the 1800s or a later Baroque-revival imperceptible reproduction, this antique handcrafted gilt silver filigree-frame textured-chain link bracelet likely originated in the European region of Austria-Hungary-Germany. We partly base this on its brilliant blue-green glass jewels in the rare trace-mineral saturated color of authentic alkaline Columbian emeralds. Including a decorative box-clasp, the ornate bracelet also features 14 prong-set round white pearls mostly mounted on the open-work filigree and 6 marquise-cut vanadium chrysoberyl...

The style Legnazzi is a bright example of Italian jewelry tradition and has been able to perpetuate itself over time thanks to the elegance that expresses in his creations. They was always looking for innovation and with a great attention to detail, they seek to satisfy the tastes of a sophisticated international clientele. His exquisite jewels are popular not only in Italy but all over the world. The atelier of Roberto Legnazzi was one of the master enamellers of the David Webb Company back in the 1970's. Actually his jewelry atelier is located at the Corso Giacomo Matteotti, 2, Valenza Alessandria. Orientalism In Art In art history, literature and cultural studies, Orientalism is the imitation or depiction of aspects of the Eastern world. These depictions are usually made by writers, designers, and artists from the Western world. In particular, Orientalist painting, depicts the Middle East, and it was one of the many specialties of 19th-century academic art, and the literature of Western countries was influenced by a similar interest in Oriental themes. Objets De Vertu Ojects de vertu, objects of virtu or objects of vertu, are small luxury objects which are not termed jewelry in the strictest sense of the word, meaning that they are worn on the person. These include minaudieres, cigarette cases, golden lighters...

Early 20th century Egyptian revival gold and enamel brooch
Located in Malmö, SE
An early 20th century Egyptian Revival gold brooch, depicting a vulture centred with a faïence scarab, clutching lotus pods and surmounted with a cabochon ruby, polychrome enamel decoration overall and engraved to reverse, 3.5cm wide. One arrow missing. Revival is always happening in the jewelry world. The Indiana Jones inside all of us is always enticed by the buried loot of the ancients. It’s one of the reasons Egyptian Revival jewelry is so alluring. Luckily for jewelry connoisseurs the span of history that have laid way to an aesthetic resurgence and intense interest in all things Egyptian during the last two hundred years. Napoleon’s Egyptian campaign in 1798 ignited the West’s fascination with motifs we have all come to associate with Egyptian Revival—sphinxes, pyramids, palmettes, papyrus leaves. This curiosity was further stimulated by the excitement surrounding the completion of the Suez Canal in 1869, after 10 years of construction, arousing a real revival of the Egyptian style, with jewelers specifically incorporating artifacts that were thousands of years old, faience in the shapes of falcons and scarabs, set into jewels framed by vermilion enamel and lapis lazuli. Some of the highlights in the 19th century timeline of Egyptomania include the opening of the Suez Canal in 1869, displays at World’s Fairs and the moment when Cleopatra’s Needle...

Victorian 1880 Etruscan Revival Classic Amphoras Drop Earrings 18kt Yellow Gold
Located in Miami, FL
Etruscan-Roman revival ear drops pendants. Magnificent oversized drop earrings, from the Victorian Era (1837-1901) circa 1880. These beautiful pair has been crafted with etruscan-roman revival patterns in solid yellow gold of 18 karats, with high polished finish. The main elements are two conical amphorae with swan-shaped handles. These hang from two straight tensors attached to a round element simulating a shield. They are suited with hinged flexibles French hooks for pierced. These extraordinary ear pendants are made with extreme elegance and the design was made with soft and simple lines, without exaggerating with ornate decorative motifs, typical of the time. Weight: 40 Grams, (25.64 Dwt). Measurements: 83 mm by 27 mm (3.25 x 1.06 Inches). Swan, is the meaning of grace, beauty, love, trust, and loyalty. Swan symbolism is also linked to inner beauty and self-love. The swan is an emblem of feminine beauty and softness and has even had operas and ballets written about it. In Wagner’s 1848 opera, Lohengrin, the Swan recreates the romanticized tail of the Swan Knight, or the son of Percival, who travels on a boat pulled by Swans and rescues a Damsel in distress. Though he is the hero of the story, the Swans symbolize the journey to find purity, love and romance, even at personal sacrifice. Amphora, is a type of large jar originating from Greek and Etruscan pottery, widely used in the Roman Empire, characterized by being a tall fusiform-shaped vessel, with a narrow neck and two openwork handles on the sides of it, usually ending in a point to place it sunk in the sandy soil or on an upright. It was used by the ancient Greeks and Romans as the main means of transporting and storing grapes, olives, olive oil, cereals, fish...

Diamond Rings, Luxury Watches and Other Antique and Vintage Fine Jewelry and Estate Jewelry on 1stDibs

Our love for diamond rings, luxury watches and other antique and vintage fine jewelry and estate jewelry goes back thousands of years.

Jewelry has long been a symbol of spiritual strength, wealth or power and, of course, a means of personal expression. While materials and processes employed by the world’s most popular jewelry housesTiffany & Co., Cartier, BVLGARI and others — have evolved over time, humans still gravitate toward many of the same accessories that our ancestors wore.

Ancient Egyptians were often hard at work designing jewelry and adorning themselves with an array of necklaces, rings and other items, and nearly every Egyptian, rich or poor, was buried with some kind of jewelry. When King Tut’s burial chamber was excavated, it revealed a sense of style that inspired Art Deco jewelry designs.

Brooches and pins remain essentials in our jewelry boxes, although we no longer require them to fasten our garments, as was once their primary use. Rings, which have always been signifiers of eternity, still serve as romantic gifts and tokens of affection. Engagement rings are still widely recognized as symbols of love and commitment — and as it can be difficult to choose the right one, explore our buying guides for a close look at antique engagement ringsArt Deco engagement rings and vintage engagement rings. [Fun fact: It wasn’t until the 14th century that we learned how to effectively cut diamonds, a critical step in revealing the stone’s brilliance.]

Hoop earrings are imbued with symbolism and cultural significance for many, and on view in the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Ancient Near Eastern Art Gallery is a pair of simple gold hoops from Mesopotamia dating to between 2600 and 2500 B.C. We’ve even created our own new, sacred symbols — the Cartier Love bracelet, for example, with its distinctive locking mechanism, is an understated and modernist symbol of love’s promise (with its own captivating history to boot). And, crafted by French jeweler Jacques Arpels of Van Cleef & Arpels, the Magic Alhambra necklace channels luck for the wearer with its universally adored design, which is informed by four-leaf clovers, a plant synonymous with good fortune.

Whether it’s our sentimental charm jewelry, costume jewelry, chunky retro bracelets or minimalist earrings created by the likes of contemporary designers WHITE/SPACE and Agmes, luxurious jewels can elevate any outfit, regardless of your personal style.
