About the Cartier Trinity Collection
Louis Cartier himself envisioned the first piece of the Trinity collection in the form of a ring in 1924. Three bands of white gold, yellow gold, and rose gold were intertwined to create a one-of-a-kind piece. Cartier designed this iconic piece at the request of French writer, designer, playwright, artist, and filmmaker, Jean Cocteau. The two had a longstanding relationship and a mutual admiration for each other's work. Jean Cocteau would go on to wear the signature Trinity ring on his pinky finger for the rest of his life. Along with this endearing tale of two friends, the inception of the Trinity collection came during the Art Deco Era, a time where everything was heavily ornamented and decorated. The Cartier Trinity ring was unlike many other designs and was brave for its pure architecture and style.
