Minneapolis at Dusk
Located in Fairlawn, OH
Minneapolis at Dusk Etching & aquatint printed in colors, 1993 Signed, titled and numbered in pencil Edition: 65 (19/65) Condition: Excellent This image depicts the Wells Fargo Center designed by Cesar Pelli Richard Haas (American, b.1936) is a practitioner of the trompe l'oeil artistic style, a technique that uses realistic images in a way that tricks the eye into perceiving the painting in three dimensions. Haas has painted hundreds of murals that incorporate trompe l'oeil methods in the depiction of the architectural features of the building. He was born in Spring Greene but grew up in Milwaukee, WI. He graduated in 1959 from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee with a Bachelor in Art. Instructors for his courses included Joseph Friebert (American, 1908–2002) and Robert Von Neuman (German, 1888–1976). Haas returned to his birthplace to work as a helper for his stonemason uncle, and he had an opportunity to view the work of the architect Frank Lloyd Wright (American, 1867–1959). He spent several years as an assistant professor at the University of Michigan before he moved to New York City in 1968. Haas spent 10 years teaching at Vermont's Bennington College, splitting his time between the school and New York. Haas worked for many years as an Abstract painter who used traditional canvas media. He later developed an interest in drawing and etching the details of late 19th century and early 20th century New York City buildings. The artist’s first outdoor mural, a commission to paint the cast iron façade at the corner of Prince Street and Greene Street, was completed in 1975. His other notable murals include Fort Worth, Texas' Homage to Chisholm Trail...

Yosemite Blue Mountain, Cyanotype on Watercolor Paper, Landscape in Indigo
Located in Barcelona, ES
This is an exclusive handprinted limited edition cyanotype. This cyanotype shows one of the mountains in beautiful Yosemite National park in California. Details: + Title: Yosemite Blue Mountain + Year: 2021 + Edition Size: 100 + Stamped and Certificate of Authenticity provided + Measurements : 70x100 cm (28x 40 in.), a standard frame size + All cyanotype prints are made on high-quality Italian watercolor paper * Frame is for illustrative purposes only. Artwork shipped carefully rolled and packaged in a tube. WHAT IS A CYANOTYPE? The cyanotype (a.k.a. sun-print) process is one of the oldest in the history of photography, dating back to the 1840's. Cyanotypes were then made famous by Anna Atkins, considered the first female photographer. Inspired by nature, we feel the need to look back at a craft that is handmade, analogue, and using an all-natural light source: the sun. Our cyanotypes are made by coating high-quality Italian watercolor paper with a light-sensitive emulsion. We then expose it in direct sunlight for several minutes using a photo negative to get the best image quality. Finally, the print is washed and fixed with water to stop the reaction and prevent fading. What you get is an amazing, royal blue image...

Screaming Young Kestral II - Photorealistic Bird Portrait, Cloud Covered Sky
Located in Chicago, IL
Painted with such exacting detail it is hard to believe it is not a photograph. This piece is framed in a simple wooden frame measuring 27 x 27 inches. Rick Pas Screaming Young Kestrel 2 acrylic on panel 12h x 12w in 30.48h x 30.48w cm RPA016 ARTIST'S STATEMENT Creating is an addiction. With all the highs and lows you would expect. I am interested in the surface textures and creating paintings that portray them in realistic detail. Hopefully a viewer will feel they can run a hand over the feathers and moss, or grasp an object in the painting. This detail is usually composed in an abstract design. The design can occur naturally or be arranged by me. Photography, Drawings, Prints, Sculptures and Paintings for Sale

Whether growing your current fine art collection or taking the first steps on that journey, you will find an extensive range of original photography, drawings, prints, sculptures, paintings and more on 1stDibs.

Visual art is among the oldest forms of expression, and it has been evolving for centuries. Beautiful objects can provide a window to the past or insight into our current time. Art collecting enhances daily life through the presence of meaningful work. It displays an appreciation for culture, whether a print by Elizabeth Catlett channeling social change or a narrative quilt by Faith Ringgold.

Contemporary art has lured more initiates to collecting than almost any other category, with notable artists including Yayoi Kusama, Marc Chagall, Kehinde Wiley and Jean-Michel Basquiat. Navigating the waiting lists for the next Marlene Dumas, Jeff Koons or Jasper Johns has become competitive.

When you’re living with art, particularly as people more often work from home and enjoy their spaces, it’s important to choose art that resonates with you. While the richness of art with its many movements, styles and histories can be overwhelming, the key is to identify what is appealing and inspiring. Artwork can play with the surrounding color of a room, creating a layered approach. The dynamic shapes and sizes of sculptures can set different moods, such as a bronze by Miguel Guía on a mantel or an Alexander Calder mobile suspended over a table. A wall of art can evoke emotions in an interior while showing off your tastes and interests. A salon-style wall mixing eclectic pieces like landscape paintings with charcoal drawings is a unique way to transform a space and show off a collection.

For art meditating on the subconscious, investigate Surrealists like Joan Miró and Salvador Dalí. Explore Pop art and its leading artists such as Andy Warhol, Rosalyn Drexler and Keith Haring for bright and bold colors. Not only did these artists question art itself, but also how we perceive society. Similarly, 20th-century photography and abstract painting reconsidered the intent of art.

Abstract Expressionists like Helen Frankenthaler and Lee Krasner and Color Field artists including Sam Gilliam broke from conventional ideas of painting, while Op artists such as Yaacov Agam embraced visual trickery and kinetic movement. Novel visuals are also integral to contemporary work influenced by street art, such as sculptures and prints by KAWS.

Realist portraiture is a global tradition reflecting on what makes us human. This is reflected in the work of Slim Aarons, an American photographer whose images are at once candid and polished and appeared in Holiday magazine and elsewhere.
