Thomas Ball

THOMAS BALL (USA, 1819–1911)

Thomas Ball was an American sculptor and musician. Ball was born on June 3, 1819, in Charlestown. His work has had a marked influence on monumental art in the United States, especially in New England. His monumental works include John Quincy Adams in 1869 at Old City Hall in Boston, Emancipation Memorial in 1875 at Lincoln Park in Washington, DC and St. John the Evangelist in 1875 at Smithsonian Art Museum. Ball died on December 11, 1911, in Montclair.
