The OMNI shelving system emerged in conjunction with a complete corporate design program for Structural Products Inc. of Charlotte, Michigan, a subsidiary of Aluminum Extrusions. The goal was to find new ways of using the extruded aluminum products made by the company. The shelving system is supported by aluminum rods. These rods are either rectangular (with slits on each side) or round (with six slits). They are inserted using springs on both ends between floor and ceiling, and are cut to suit this purpose. In the slits, horizontal aluminum supports can be inserted for the shelves and shelving modules. The various components—storage elements, table panels, and lamps—make the shelf into a kind of all-purpose item for varied situations: living room, study, kitchen, or office. The OMNI shelving system can be seen as a further development of the StrucTube system that Nelson had developed for use in exhibitions and was used at Colonial Williamsburg. This 3rd Generation Eames CTW Coffee Table for Herman Miller was made in 1950. This table consists of a circular five-layer plywood top, sitting upon four matching legs of bent plywood to a near 90 degrees. CTW was the abbreviated name of the Coffee (C) Table (T) with a Wood (W) base and is an iconic Mid-Century Modern piece. We have restored but not refinished to keep the overall vintage look to the piece. This would be an amazing addition to any space and certainly a conversation starter. This piece has been refinished to perfection.

About the CTW:
Released as part of the 1946 plywood group of furniture, CTW was the abbreviated name of the Coffee (C) Table (T) with a Wood (W) base. The Eames CTW Coffee Table consisted of a circular five-layer plywood top, sat upon four matching legs of bent ply to a near 90 degrees.
The plywood group was the first to be released to the general market for adults by the Eames Office in 1946. The furniture was manufactured first by the Evans Molded Plywood Company and sold through distributor Herman Miller. Miller then bought and took over the range entirely from 1950.
The group was the first of many from the Eames Office to consist of identical tops and different bases to create varying choices. This would famously be a theme for Eames design and seen to an even greater scale with the fiberglass range. The CTW had two matching all wood chairs in the group, the dining DCW and the lounge LCW as well as a sister rectangular table, the OTW. The Eames CTW Coffee Table and matching chairs were also replicated with metal legs and so named the CTM, DCM and LCM.

Authentic Eames chair for everywhere - a lovely complement to any dining room table or office, this chair’s curved plywood seat and back are designed to organically accommodate each sitter. They're connected to a light, streamlined steel frame with rubber shock mounts that flex to move with your body.
The 1946 Eames DCM chair was the abbreviated name representing the dining height (D) side chair (C) on metal (M) rod base. The chair was part of a small series of chairs and tables which effectively kick started the career of Charles and Ray Eames into notoriety.
History would soon coin the phrase ‘Eames Chairs’ largely based on the design and success of the first group of chairs including the DCM alongside the lounge version LCM as well as the wooden leg versions the DCW and LCW. The series were a result of a long-standing collaboration between Charles Eames and the Evans Plywood Company which had worked together, from the same location in Venice CA, throughout the war years.
