BORO Blue Shade Handloom Throw / Blanket In Pure Soft Merino Twill Weave
Located in Bloomfield Hills, MI
Custom design by Studio Variously, Boro Throw is handwoven ethically by master weavers in Nepal and dyed entirely with earth friendly dyes in soft 100% merino yarn. A sustainable design brand based out of Michigan, Studio Variously exclusively collaborates with artisan communities globally to restore and revive ancient techniques by exploring classic modern designs in textile based products for interiors. The design is made up of subtle twill weave that creates a soft weave. Twill weave with dual color yarns gives a softer visual appeal to the plush merino yarn used in this handloom throw. Neat short fringes give this throw/blanket a clean classic and modern appeal, also making this throw / blanket reversible to arrange and for multiple use in interior space. Our textiles are incredibly soft to touch and wear well over time. Requiring attention to detail and finishing, this piece luxuriously combines heritage value and high quality craftsmanship. For Boro, we are using only the highest quality of soft natural hand-spun merino yarn, which is later hand-dyed with earth friendly dyes, free of toxic chemicals. Our certified eco friendly Swiss dyes are specifically engineered to promote the lifespan of each throw. Completely 100% handmade from start to finish, each piece is unique. Classic in design, this timeless throw / blanket will complement interior spaces and also support artisan communities ethically. Size: 83" x 43" (210 cm x 110 cm) Material: 100% soft plush merino from Australia. Colors: Soft pastel blue and canvas twill weave. Artisan base: Ethically & responsibly handwoven by artisans in Nepal. Wash care: Gently hand wash using gentle detergents. Hang dry in cool shaded place or delicately dry clean only. Packaging: Each piece comes with its individual envelope shaped pouch made with canvas cotton and natural wood buttoned closure. This is also made by our artisans to keep the production inclusive. Maharam Pillow, Layers Vineyard Small by Hella Jongerius
Located in New York, NY
Maharam pillow Layers Vineyard Small by Hella Jongerius 004 Jade/Turquoise Layers Vineyard Small combines Hella Jongerius' fascination with the manipulation of traditional manufacturing methods with an exploration of dimensionality. Jongerius collaborated with Maharam to conceive a method of binding multiple layers of wool felt with embroidery. Layers is available in a combination of single and double -layer variations, in which handcut windows of pattern reveal an underlayer of either tonal or contrasting wool felt, adding a distinct artisanal character. The three embroidered patterns recall various landscapes: the plan view of Layers Garden, the architectural framework of Layers Park...

It is a place of perfection in nature, of reconciliation with our origin, of serenity towards our near reality. Paradises are there, waiting for us. We earn them sometimes, and some other times we are expelled from them and then their very existence becomes a reproach. Paradises are not ephemeral, though. All that belongs to Nature is ephemeral and boundless at the same time. It remains until the infinite and returns to the beginning to wither again and so on, over and over. Paradise escapes us, it slips out in our imagination of what it is. It disappears and then, just like everything we cannot hold, like everything vanishing away from our desire for grasping, it must be replicated, frozen in time, imitated at best, never to be lost again. We contemplate it in all its confines, we study it and scrutinise all its forms, line by line, each with different colours and nuances. We thus hold on to the ephemeral, we stop its decadence, we perpetuate beauty in our urge to negate its own death. The paradise reverts to the logic of the quest. Maybe the last voyage ever to be undertaken is that of defining a paradise through sheer technical mastery, through the use of an apparent wisdom, a meticulous ability to reproduce reality: to create some sort of artificial paradise, a world where everything is reproducible and interminable, and so all appears at last to be perfectly docile and tame. To believe in the absolute harmlessness of such a paradise. And very likely to open up an abyss afresh, a new irony (tragic o comic or perhaps both at the same time) about each petal of each of its artificial flowers, made in the image and according to the likeness of reality. Artificial Paradises intends to be a very own and concrete paradise in a very specific location. The tradition of reproduction/imitation in Asia forms part of its culture. The tenacious aim for perfection, or for the idea of perfection held about things, blurs the confine between what is and its perfect imitation. In Asia the electric colours of the artificial plants...

GUFRAMINI Pratone by Ceretti, Derossi & Rosso - 1stdibs New York
Located in La Morra, Cuneo
The mini Pratone® plays with the juxtaposition of a "large-small" proportion by reducing to 7/8 the giant Pratone that was designed in 1972 by Ceretti, Derossi, and Rosso, and exhibited that year at the MoMA as part of the Italy: The New Domestic Landscape exhibition. Just like the original version, the base of the "mini" sculpture shows the writing ‘Pratone’ on one of the sides, and 42 soft stems stretching in different directions complete the radical look of this little icon. As if in a fairy tale, the Gufram icons have become smaller and have now turned into Guframini®! The most radical Italian design...

Shop Unique Furniture on 1stDibs

When it comes to shopping for vintage, new and antique furniture — whether you’re finally moving into that long-coveted loft apartment, ranch-style home, townhouse or furnishing your weekend house on the lake — you should think of your home as a stage for the seating, tables, lighting, storage cabinets and other pieces that best match your personality.

Coziness, comfort and creating a welcoming space are among the important things to consider when buying furniture, whether that means seeking strict cohesion or rooms characterized by a mix-and-match assembly of varying shapes, colors and materials. And for those who now work from home, exercise, eat and relax within the same four walls every day, they’ll also want to think about flexibility and an innovative approach.

Have you built your dream kitchen?

Is your current living-room furniture all that it could be?

Does your toast-worthy bar or vintage bar cart exude equal parts class and cheeriness?

And importantly, is your home officebackyard or otherwise — a happy one, regardless of the design style you happen to gravitate toward?

Although mid-century modern, rustic, minimalist, Art Deco and contemporary looks remain popular, they aren’t the only styles available to design connoisseurs.

Furniture styles are nothing if not fluid, meaning what’s popular one year may not be the next. That’s why it’s crucial to not only pay attention to interior-design trends but also focus on the styles that speak to you. That way, you (and your interior designer, if that is in the plans) can work to create a home that’s entirely your own, complete with impressively modern decor as well as an array of history’s universally renowned iconic designs.

It’s difficult to single out well-recognized designs from what is a crowded pantheon of celebrated and seminal furnishings. Certain outstanding designs have such stellar quality they’ve endured for decades as bona fide cultural treasures, still being manufactured, in many cases, by the same venerable companies that shepherded them into being (think Herman Miller, Knoll and Fritz Hansen). Some works come immediately to mind as contenders for any short list. When you’re discussing the most popular mid-century modern chairs, for example, no tally would be complete without citing designs by Arne Jacobsen, Charlotte Perriand, Charles and Ray Eames and Hans Wegner.

Good furniture, be it authentic vintage furniture or new & custom furniture, allows you to comfortably sit and tell your favorite stories. Great furniture tells a story of its own.

On 1stDibs, find everything from sofas to serveware to credenzas to coffee tables, and every other type of antique, vintage and new furniture you need to create a singular space that you’ll be proud to call home.
