Omega Cocktail - Vintage White Gold & Diamond Manual Wind Ladies' Watch
Located in Antwerp, BE
Up for sale is this beautiful Swiss Made 18k White Gold and Diamond Ladies' cocktail watch with reference number 7256, made by Omega and dating back to 1969 based on its serial number. The watch case measures approximately 16.5mm in diameter, is crafted from solid 18k white gold, and seamlessly flows over into the white gold mesh bracelet. The factory set diamond bezel contains 20 high quality brilliant cut diamonds totalling approximately 0.4ct. The dial is kept to its bare minimum: simplistic hour markers combined with a vertically brushed silver tone dial and baton shaped hands create a minimalist watch face. Behind the solid gold case back we find the beating heart of this watch: a mechanical hand-winding Omega movement with caliber reference 650. Thanks to the incorporation of this movement, the watch case can be kept as thin as 6mm. For such a sleek and refined watch, its total weight still adds up to about 36.5 grams. The watch is sold as pre-owned and vintage, however it still is in good condition considering its age. You will find wear marks on the case and bracelet, but no coarse damage. The case has been cleaned thoroughly, but was left unpolished to maintain its original edges and curves. The sapphire crystal looks unscathed to the naked eye. The crown is original and signed with the Omega logo. The movement was freshly serviced, and is working perfectly. Please study the pictures in this listing well: they show the watch in the condition that it is in, with no digital enhancements to make it look better than it is. We are sure that you like honesty, and so do we. Please do note that the clasp has a small adjustment setting, but the bracelet on this watch is otherwise not drastically resizable. Ideally, the watch fits wrists with a circumference between 16 and 17.5cm. Accompanying the watch is its lovely original clamshell Omega presentation box, but sadly no paperwork is present with this piece. Your new timepiece will be packaged with great care, and will be shipped out as fast as possible. We usually ship the same day your payment comes in, and provide full insurance as well as a tracking code for all of our packages. If you have any questions regarding the item or our services, please do not hesitate to reach out. We'll gladly assist as soon as we get the chance. LIFETIME SERVICE COMMITMENT This unique watch is entirely hand made sometime in the late 1920's. It still had the original cord band when we first purchased it, nearly 40 years ago. The workmanship on this piece is exceptional and the dial is original as well. The dial done is Sterling Silver with Kiln Fired Printing was produced by Stern Freres and has Solid Gold Applied Breguet Style Arabic Numerals. The hands are original as well. Stern Freres bought the Patek Philippe Watch Company in the early 1930's when they went into bankruptcy. The Stern Family still own Patek Philippe to this day. Movado is a Swiss watchmaking company founded in 1881 by Achilles Ditesheim in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland. The name "Movado" means "always in motion" in Esperanto, and the company has lived up to its name throughout its history with its commitment to innovation and design. In its early years, Movado produced a wide variety of pocket watches, but it soon began to focus on wristwatches as they became increasingly popular. In 1912, Movado introduced its first wristwatch, the Ermeto, which was marketed as a travel watch with a stylish and protective case. The Ermeto was a huge success, and it helped to establish Movado as a leader in the wristwatch market. In the 1920s and 1930s, Movado continued to innovate with new designs and technologies. In 1930, the company introduced its iconic Museum Watch, which features a simple, minimalist design with a single dot at 12 o'clock. The Museum Watch was designed by Nathan George Horwitt, a young American designer who was inspired by the Bauhaus movement. The Museum Watch was an immediate success, and it is still one of Movado's most popular watches...

1928 Elgin E-1 Series, 15 Jewel, Rare Dial Offering
Located in Raleigh, NC
Thank you for dropping by. I have a sublime offering that is Art Deco through and through. Elgin, one of the prolific early American wrist watch manufacturers. The played a significant role during the early wristwatch era. This is just an example. This is an incredible survivor from two generations ago. This 1928, one year before “The Great Depression” hung over the US like a dark angry cloud. This could be labeled a Streamline Moderne offering in 14 karat white gold filled. The case is in remarkable condition for being almost 100 years young. Elgin “Model 621” men’s Streamline Moderne design wristwatch in 14K white gold fill, circa 1928. Let me share with you what makes this such a coveted treasure to own, if you are on my sight, you like vintage watches. With bias I know I offer some of the best in the market today, don’t take my word, read my reviews. Back to the Elgin, sorry I got lost for a moment. This dial is the crown jewel of this offering. It is called an Incuse Exploding dial...

1919 Waltham "Wandering Second" 15 Jewels with Stunning Movement
Located in Raleigh, NC
I have a shameless commercial plug for my shop. Many of my watches were used in the filming of an Epic Film due to be released in May 2023. The studio selected my shop due to the authentic restoration couple with the time period of 1919-1926. I will mention two actors who are in the upcoming movie, Leonardo Di Capra and Robert Di Nero… more to come. It was an honor and validated my shop for its authentic restoration practices. What a treat! Have you ever run across a “Wandering Second” WW1 / Trench watch. But……it is not your ordinary offering, look at the gold colored screws and gold-colored wheels. What a treat. This combination is very difficult to source in operating condition today, so many have abused as Father Time has passed us by. This is a 15-jewel movement, this was better than most that were 7 jewels, it was more reliable. This style is called a cushion for its shape which was popular in the early wrist watch era. The often-housed round dials with no seconds or a traditional second hand at six o’clock. Many of the WW1 wrist watches use 0 size movements, see below was size reference. 5/0s 26.25 mm 1.033 in 1 130 in 4/0s 27.09 mm 1.067 in 1 115 in 3/0s 27.94 mm 1.100 in 1 110 in 2/0s 28.79 mm 1.133 in 1 215 in 0s 29.63 mm 1.167 in 1 16 in I used the terms Trench Watch. What exactly is that? History about Trench Watches What is a “Trench Watch” ? They were created using 3-0 and 0 size pocket watch movements and installing into watch cases that were meant to worn on the wrist. The watch movement companies would send their movements to independent jewelers, who in turn would select the cases to house the movement. So the ordering process might go like this. A customer walks into a jeweler, with the help of the jeweler, the customer selects a 15 jeweled movement, then they go on to the case selection. The jeweler may recommend a higher end case manufactures like Depollier, and then it is the style of case as many manufactures had several different styles. Once a complete selection was made, the jeweler put it together and delivered the watch. That is how many Trench Watches (wrist watches) were born in the early 1900's. The movements often came from women pocket watches...

1930's Elgin Sports Watch 15 Jewel Stainless Case, Stunning Dial
Located in Raleigh, NC
Welcome to Vintage Watch Corner. First a PSA (Public Service Announcement) Vintage Watch Corner was selected as the Vintage watch source to supply “period” watches (1918-1926) for a major motion picture. This picture is being filmed in Oklahoma as we speak. It is a validation of the authenticity of my restorations. What a great looking Elgin. This watch is from the late 1930’s, It is Elgin’s answer to the “waterproof” watch. The crystal has a gasket between the case and crystal, the case back has a gasket between the movement retainer ring and the case back, that by the way threads on. I love the oversized crown; it adds a distinguished look to a “functional watch. This watch was targeted for the outdoors person who wanted a watch that could withstand the elements, hence multiple gaskets and oversized crown. I love the two tone dial. It has a golden minute...

Antique, New and Vintage Watches

Records show that, in Europe, by the 16th century, it was high time for portable clock devices. Right now, perhaps you’re shopping for your own. If so, find a vast range of fashionable and functional antique, new and classic vintage watches on 1stDibs.

While wall-mounted time tellers and grandfather clocks were much more convenient than the sundials of ancient history, watches were becoming crucial for an increasingly connected society whose members learned that the latest advancements in technology meant they could carry devices that kept time to within a minute a day. Tragically, the first pocket watches — albeit an improvement on the accessories that preceded them, which dangled from a chain worn around the neck — didn’t help much as far as accuracy or portability. Focused on style over substance, the upper class frequently carried lavish pieces that ran hours behind.

Eventually, watches migrated from owners’ pockets to their wrists. In the early days of watchmaking, watches were fragile enough that they necessitated protection from the elements. Now, wristwatches made of gold and steel can withstand the harshest climates — even 100 meters underwater, in the case of Rolex’s Submariner. Designer Gérald Genta, whose range of clients included Rolex, created for Audemars Piguet the first luxury sports timepiece to be made from stainless steel. First introduced in 1972, the Royal Oak was a perfect choice for blending the form and function that are now synonymous with sports watches.

Indeed, although exceedingly practical, the watches of today are far from bland. Bulgari’s iconic Serpenti watch was on everyone’s list after the collection’s bold bracelet, which technically debuted after the timepiece, graced the wrist of actress Elizabeth Taylor. If anything, elaborately crafted timepieces — the unmistakably boxy silhouette of Cartier Tank watches, the elegant and minimal Calatrava designed by legendary Swiss house Patek Philippe — are even more effective than the shape we associate with traditional watches. You’ll always know what time it is because you won’t be able to tear your eyes away from your new accessory.

Form watches — the all-encompassing moniker bestowed upon non-round watches — are making headlines and completing contemporary fashionable ensembles the world over. At the same time, both casual fans and careful collectors are drawn to the unbeatable charm of vintage styles, such as the icons designed by Omega that even James Bond can’t resist

When shopping for a watch, it’s good to keep your needs as well as your specific personal style in mind: A smaller, subtle timepiece is a good fit for small wrists. When will you be wearing your new accessory? There’s a versatile model out there for everyday wear, while a rugged, feature-heavy watch is a safe bet if you’re prone to embarking on all-weather activities in the great outdoors.

Find exactly what you’re looking for in an unparalleled collection of antique, new and vintage watches on 1stDibs — we promise it will be worth your time.
