Antique French Charles X Classical Secrétaire à Abattant Desk Chest Walnut 1825

A fine & elegant antique French Charles X figured walnut secretaire abattant, circa 1825.
A high quality French figured walnut secretary chest from the first quarter of the 1800s, the slightly over hanging top with canted edges and a conforming shaped base, with a single long drawer to the top. Below is a locking fall front writing surface enclosing a fitted interior, the original key is present, it is fitted with pigeon holes & six drawers, with the original ebony pulls. The writing surface is supported with a pair of arched shaped brass supports, the writing surafce is robust & sturdy and is great to work to with your laptop or just to write on!
To the base are three graduated drawers providing plenty of useful storage, all of the drawers run smooth and with ease, the secretary chest is raised on bracket feet.
Condition is excellent, all of the original brass hardware is present, the secretary is in excellent condition, no damage or restoration and it has the original warm, mellow finish.

This bench is the ideal solution to having records sitting all over your house and no place to sit. This is an original design, but with a strong influence of Mid Century Danish Modern. The bench is roughly 67" long, 19" tall (20.5" tall if you include the cushion) and 14" deep. The cushion is 1.5" tall and is hemmed in by a 1/2" border. The table top surface next to the cushion is optional- the cushion could stretch the entire width of the bench if you prefer. You can choose a different fabric if you like, otherwise I will use the fabric in the photo.

French 19th Century Empire Buffet in Recent Paint
Located in Baton Rouge, LA
A very unique French Empire 19th century buffet, or desserte server, in demilune profile and more recent painted finish of uncertain age. The top surface is a handpainted faux marble that is nearly all black except for delicate wisps of smoky gray veining. In the frieze are three drawers: one in each corner that swings outward at an angle, and one wide drawer in the center, all using lion-motif ring pulls. The case is washed in an ethereal tone of French gray with matte texture and mottled variation blending streaks of white, gray, and blue pigment that may just as easily blend with Directoire and Gustavian tastes than the opulence of Empire. Carved wood caryatids in ebonized (painted) effect flank the pair of doors at center, which open in tandem by working lock and key. Inside the case are two shelves at different depths which could be perfect as a dry bar or dining room storage...
