Chrome And Vinyl For Sale on 1stDibs

At 1stDibs, there are many versions of the ideal chrome and vinyl for your home. Frequently made of metal, chrome and fabric, every chrome and vinyl was constructed with great care. Whether you’re looking for an older or newer chrome and vinyl, there are earlier versions available from the 20th Century and newer variations made as recently as the 21st Century. When you’re browsing for the right chrome and vinyl, those designed in Mid-Century Modern, Modern and Industrial styles are of considerable interest. You’ll likely find more than one chrome and vinyl that is appealing in its simplicity, but Milo Baughman, Daystrom Furniture and Charles and Ray Eames produced versions that are worth a look.

How Much is a Chrome And Vinyl?

Prices for a chrome and vinyl can differ depending upon size, time period and other attributes — at 1stDibs, they begin at $75 and can go as high as $7,500, while the average can fetch as much as $1,550.

Finding the Right seating for You

With entire areas of our homes reserved for “sitting rooms,” the value of quality antique and vintage seating cannot be overstated.

Fortunately, the design of side chairs, armchairs and other lounge furniture — since what were, quite literally, the early perches of our ancestors — has evolved considerably.

Among the earliest standard seating furniture were stools. Egyptian stools, for example, designed for one person with no seat back, were x-shaped and typically folded to be tucked away. These rudimentary chairs informed the design of Greek and Roman stools, all of which were a long way from Sori Yanagi's Butterfly stool or Alvar Aalto's Stool 60. In the 18th century and earlier, seats with backs and armrests were largely reserved for high nobility.

The seating of today is more inclusive but the style and placement of chairs can still make a statement. Antique desk chairs and armchairs designed in the style of Louis XV, which eventually included painted furniture and were often made of rare woods, feature prominently curved legs as well as Chinese themes and varied ornaments. Much like the thrones of fairy tales and the regency, elegant lounges crafted in the Louis XV style convey wealth and prestige. In the kitchen, the dining chair placed at the head of the table is typically reserved for the head of the household or a revered guest.

Of course, with luxurious vintage or antique furnishings, every chair can seem like the best seat in the house. Whether your preference is stretching out on a plush sofa, such as the Serpentine, designed by Vladimir Kagan, or cozying up in a vintage wingback chair, there is likely to be a comfy classic or contemporary gem for you on 1stDibs.

With respect to the latest obsessions in design, cane seating has been cropping up everywhere, from sleek armchairs to lounge chairs, while bouclé fabric, a staple of modern furniture design, can be seen in mid-century modern, Scandinavian modern and Hollywood Regency furniture styles.

Admirers of the sophisticated craftsmanship and dark woods frequently associated with mid-century modern seating can find timeless furnishings in our expansive collection of lounge chairs, dining chairs and other items — whether they’re vintage editions or alluring official reproductions of iconic designs from the likes of Hans Wegner or from Charles and Ray Eames. Shop our inventory of Egg chairs, designed in 1958 by Arne Jacobsen, the Florence Knoll lounge chair and more.

No matter your style, the collection of unique chairs, sofas and other seating on 1stDibs is surely worthy of a standing ovation.

Questions About Chrome And Vinyl
  • 1stDibs ExpertAugust 17, 2021
A vinyl couch is a couch made from a chemical called polyvinyl chloride (PVC), which gives it a matte finish. Vinyl couches are smooth to the touch and tend to resemble leather but have less luster than a leather sofa. These couches are quite durable, lasting for many years without cracking like leather. Shop vinyl couches on 1stDibs.
  • 1stDibs ExpertApril 5, 2022
Vinyl leather is a material commonly used to produce upholstery on furniture and various types of furniture. It refers to man-made polyvinyl chloride or PVC that has a sheen and texture similar to that of natural cowhide leather. On 1stDibs, find a wide range of antique and vintage furniture.
  • 1stDibs ExpertAugust 23, 2019

Peelable wallpaper is also called temporary wallpaper and consists of a vinyl front and paper adhesive back.

  • 1stDibs ExpertApril 5, 2022
No, vinyl records should be stored in an upright position, not flat or horizontally. The pressure caused by stacking your vinyl records could cause damage over time. On 1stDibs, you can shop a collection of vinyl record storage units from some of the world’s top enthusiasts.
  • 1stDibs ExpertOctober 12, 2021
The best way to store vinyl records is in an upright position to ensure they stay in good condition. Records that have been stored at a slant for an extended period can warp because of the uneven pressure that has been placed on them. Therefore, records are often kept in crates that position them upright. Shop a range of antique and vintage racks to store vinyl on 1stDibs.
  • 1stDibs ExpertApril 5, 2022
To store and care for vinyl records, follow these tips. Keep them in a clean, dry place protected from fluctuations in temperature. Position them upright in a box or record container to reduce the risk of warping. Wipe them clean with a dry, soft cloth as needed. You'll find a selection of vinyl records on 1stDibs.
  • 1stDibs ExpertApril 5, 2022
Yes, vinyl records can become damaged when they are exposed to subzero temperatures—they become very fragile and can break. They also can develop condensation as they’re moved from cold to warm environments but this won’t damage the vinyl. It may, however, damage the sleeve or the cover. Shop a collection of vinyl records and record-inspired art from some of the world’s top sellers on 1stDibs.
  • 1stDibs ExpertOctober 5, 2021
The best way to store vinyl records is in an upright position to prevent them from warping. They should be stored in the supplied sleeve (preferably a poly sleeve) and the outer jacket. On 1stDibs, find a range of vintage storage cabinets and other storage solutions that will be suitable for your collection of vinyl records.

The Chrome Hearts logo is a decorative cross surrounded by a banner that bears the brand name. Lettering appears in a decorative font called Cloister Black that draws inspiration from Old English typography. Some pieces also feature a logo composed of a C and an H in this font. On 1stDibs, explore a variety of Chrome Hearts jewelry, apparel and accessories.
  • 1stDibs ExpertJanuary 23, 2024
The meaning of Chrome Hearts is bold design, luxury and high-quality craftsmanship. Founded in 1988 by Richard Stark, the luxury American brand is well known for its pieces that blend elements of biker style, Gothic architecture and Baroque art. Chrome Hearts specializes in jewelry and eyeglasses and also makes a line of apparel and accessories that includes t-shirts, hoodies, leather jackets, hats and other pieces. Chrome Hearts is a brand that seems to be bucking the mainstream approach of creating fashion. Chrome Hearts’s approach is to make whatever they want for whomever they want and charge aspirational prices for each piece. Because the work is custom and there’s no way to know how many there will be, it’s creating a huge buzz. On 1stDibs, find a collection of authentic Chrome Hearts pieces from some of the world’s top sellers.
  • 1stDibs ExpertFebruary 27, 2024
Richard Stark, Leonard Kamhout and John Bowman started Chrome Hearts. When the brand launched in 1988, Stark and Bowman worked out of a garage, producing leather goods out of high-quality materials. The company soon expanded into jewelry, and Kamhout, a master sterling silver jeweler, came onboard. The trio continued to work together until 1994, when Kamhout and Bowman exited the company. Find a wide variety of Chrome Hearts apparel, jewelry and accessories on 1stDibs.
  • 1stDibs ExpertNovember 1, 2023
