In 1907, he established his own bronze lighting manufacturing business at 14 rue Pierre Levée. In 1913, he created a new limited partnership, "L. Hugue, fabrique de bronzes et d’appareils d’éclairage," at number 10 in the same street. The business grew, and around 1925, he set up a factory at 68 rue des Rondeaux, where he worked with the help of his son Maurice Léon, also a bronze fitter. Today, lighting designers like the self-taught Bec Brittain have used the flexible structure of LEDs to craft glamorous solutions by working with what is typically considered a harsh lighting source. By integrating glass and mirrors, reflection can be used to soften the glow from LEDs and warmly welcome light into any space.
Although contemporary innovators continue to impress, some of the classics can’t be beat.
