Produced by Fontana Arte after Pietro Chiesa
Italian Art Deco designer Pietro Chiesa was born in Milan in 1892 into a family of artists from Ticino, Switzerland. After his studies at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts, he completed an apprenticeship at the studio of furniture designer Giovan Battista Giannotti; after gathering enough confidence and experience, Chiesa opened his studio in 1921 under the name of Bottega di Pietro Chiesa.
Known above all for his work as a glassmaker, Chiesa presented his work for the first time in 1925 at the Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs et Industriels Modernes in Paris. In 1932 his studio became part of Fontana Arte, the legendary Italian manufacturer of lighting and glass objects founded by Gio Ponti and Luigi Fontana. Chiesa becomes the artistic director of the company and over the years has designed numerous models for Fontana Arte, including lamps, windows, tables and artistic furnishing objects. Maurice Max-Ingrand, better known as Max Ingrand was a French artist, designer and decorator born in 1908 in Bressuire, France and passed away in 1969 Paris. Ingrand studied in Paris at the French University École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts and École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs. During this time, he was educated by the well-know French glass artists Jaques Grüber and Charles Lemaresquier. In 1937, he participated in designing the church windows of the Notre-Dame de Paris. During 1954 - 1967, Ingrand was the artistic director of the Italian design company FontanaArte.

We build elegant custom interior and exterior passage and entry doors with a Mid-Century Modern style. Pictured is an exterior entrance door 85" tall and 45" wide and because our doors are individually crafted they can be customized to meet any requirement for use as an interior or exterior door, single or double. They can be produced with all manner of hardware for commercial applications if needed which includes being fire-rated. All sales include pre-hung jambs and units are ready to be installed on-site.
Our doors are built superior to any production line series and all are handmade with no two the same.
Featured above our midcentury Starburst design with solid half inch by quarter inch solid brass bar raised over walnut on both sides of the door. The first 7 photos show this model door and the other photos show other doors we have produced in other configurations and finishes. We offer color blocking in any color desired or wood including oak, walnut, rosewood etc. and the bars can be produced from either brass, aluminum, colored aluminum or wood (walnut, ash, etc).

"Kanji" is a collection of lighting elements that reinterprets traditional Oriental portable lanterns in a contemporary vision. Available in tabletop and ceiling models, it draws inspiration from Chinese porcelain dating from the Ming dynasty. The hand-blown glass diffuser, in frosted white and translucent smoky gray, is adorned with a pleated surface decoration.
A LED ring runs inside the structure and magically illuminates the diffuser. Evocative of Far East not only as form but also as a name, as "Kanji" are characters of Chinese origin used in Japanese writing in conjunction with the Hiragana and Katakana syllabaries, "Kanji" is designed to be used alone or in pairs, with each form amplifying the aesthetic power of the other.
