About the Item

Hans J. Wegner PP124 Rocking Chair – 1984 – PP Møbler, Denmark A timeless masterpiece of Danish modern design, this PP124 rocking chair, designed by Hans J. Wegner in 1984, embodies the organic elegance and masterful craftsmanship that define Wegner’s legacy. Details: Designer: Hans J. Wegner (1914–2007) – a celebrated figure of mid-century Danish design, renowned for his organic, functional, and timeless furniture pieces. Often called the “Master of the Chair,” Wegner designed over 500 chairs during his prolific career, many of which have become enduring icons. Manufacturer: PP Møbler, Denmark – a workshop known for producing some of Wegner’s most refined, hand-crafted pieces to exacting standards. Model: PP124 Rocking Chair, designed in 1984 – one of Wegner’s later works, showcasing his fascination with form, comfort, and transparency. Materials: Solid ash wood with a beautiful soap-treated finish, enhancing the wood’s natural warmth and tactility. Seat & Back: Original rope weave in excellent condition; the chair comes with its original cushions upholstered in elegant Vibeke Klint fabric – a subtle, refined textile by one of Denmark’s great textile designers. Dimensions: Height: 107 cm (42.1 in) Width: 75 cm (29.5 in) Depth: 81 cm (31.9 in) Seat height: 43 cm (16.9 in) Condition: This example is in exceptional vintage condition – the ash frame retains its warm, lightly patinated finish, the paper cord is tight and strong, and the original cushions are clean and well-kept. Why we love it: Combining the poetic transparency of the rope weave with the gentle curves of the solid ash frame, the PP124 is both sculptural and supremely comfortable. This chair is a testament to Wegner’s vision of functional beauty and the unrivaled quality of Danish cabinetmaking. An extraordinary collector’s piece that will bring timeless Scandinavian elegance to any interior. Colors may slightly vary due to photographic lighting sources or your monitor settings. Wear consistent with age and use. The chair will be shipped insured overseas in a custom made wooden crate. Cost of insured transport to the US is Euro 975 crate included if transport is organized by us which we highly recommend.
