About the Item

A very fine, French Art Deco serving tray or platter. In 950 silver. Of a six-sided or hexagonal form with a shaped edge, stepped rim, and a shallow well. Decorated with a raised, stylized leaf at each far 'handle' end. Made by Robert Linzeler and retailed by Cartier. Cartier had a long-standing relationship Robert Linzeler, who was one of Cartier finest suppliers (particularly for the New York market in the Art Deco period). Linzeler was an important French silversmith and jeweler in the first half of the 20th century and a member of The French Society of Jewelry and Silverware. His business existed in several iteration including LINZELER-ARGENSON S.A. and LINZELER-MARCHAK and was eventually essentially subsumed by Cartier in the 1930s and 40s. Marked Cartier, Robert Linzeler, and Made in France to the reverse. Simply a wonderful top-level Art Deco silver tray! Date: Early 20th Century Overall Condition: It is in overall good, as-pictured, used estate condition. There is some light edge wear, some light dings and indentations here and there, some fine and light surface scratches, and other signs of light wear consistent with age.
