Otto/Opus 348 and Otra/Opus 349 - Bronze Sculpture by M. Berrocal
Located in Roma, IT
OTTO - Opus 348 e OTRA - Opus 349 is a joyful polished and patinated bronze couple of sculptures representing a decomposable male and female bust, realized by the Spanish artist, Berrical Miguel in 1987. This wonderful Contemporary scultures are signed and numbered (the signature and the number of the specimen is inscribed on the hoof). Edition of 999 copies. In excellent conditions. Generally it is combined with the female decomposable nude. Berrical Miguel (Villanueva de Algaidas, 1933 - Antequera, 2006) Berrical Miguel was a Spanish sculptor and artist also known as the puzzle sculptor, due to the particularity of his sculptures. In the first half of the twentieth century the young Berrocal sought his artistic journey by asking himself: "How to awaken the public thanks to a sculpture?". From this reflection comes his personal artistic philosophy and his plastic language that can be summarized in 7 key concepts: scientific inspiration, empty space, disassembly, interactive aesthetics, techniques, multiple. His work was unified by an underlying search for beauty, borne from his study of mathematics and physics early in life. His sculptures, like this one, often consist of interlocking elements known as “component parts” that can be assembled into unique forms within a series of almost identical objects. Working in a wide range of sizes, Berrocal’s pieces could be sometimes very large in scale for public spaces, while other times small enough to be worn as jewelry. The Spanish artist spent much of his life in Verona, Italy because here he discovered a small foundry that allowed him to cast his complex and modular sculptures...

Ting Shao Kuang "Pensive Seated Woman"
Located in Los Angeles, CA
Ting Shao Kuang (B. 1939) "Pensive Seated Woman" 1989 Cold painted bronze sculpture; signed in casting, stamped "15/250 [copyright symbol] Segal Fine Art 1989" Dimensions: 16 1/2 x 15 1/4 in. (41.9 x 38.7 cm.) Ting Shao Kuang was born in 1939, in Chenggu, a small village located in the Northern province of Shanxi, China. His earliest childhood was marked by the horrors of the Sino-Japanese war that destroyed his land and left him abandoned after the evacuation of his parents to Taiwan. He found his consolation and escape in painting and by the age of 11, he painted on a daily basis, using the cooking oil as a medium for the pigment. Even besides his limited supplies, Ting Shao Kuang managed to use his extraordinary talent and got the opportunity to attend a prestigious high school which was connected with the Beijing’s Central Academy of Arts and Crafts where he later gained his further education. His painting lessons were based on rules of Social Realism without freedom of expression and with the strict prohibition of any foreign influences. After graduation in 1962, Kuang obtained a position to teach at the Yunnan Art Institute in Kunming. Painting the unacceptable abstract paintings during the night, he would destroy every piece of them in the morning, fearing of the arrestment of the authorities of the country. Still, Ting Shao Kuang’s progressive and modern vision did not fail to attract the attention and he was suspended from his work and escaped to northern China, finding the refuge in Buddhist monasteries in Gansu where he studied ancient sculpture and cave paintings on the old Silk Route which had been preserved for centuries. Using the distinctive technique, Ting Shao Kuang’s work combines traditional Chinese influences with the Western art forms. Always turning to the female characters as his favorite subjects, their sophisticated shapes have been created from the artist’s deepest feelings and literature that inspired him. After the death of Mao, Kuang and his colleagues founded the famous Yunnan Shen She Art...

Contemporary Geometric Abstract Sculpture Bronze Unique Italian European 1983
Located in New York, NY
Contemporary Geometric Abstract Sculpture Bronze Unique Italian European 1983 Triangle, 1983, bronze. 6 x 12.25 x 2 inches. Signed and dated on both the sculpture and the base BIO Bruno Romeda is a complete artist because all his work always begins by a joining of twigs, rods and sticks, keeping tension and balance. Inspired by primitive geometric forms, as circle, square and triangle, Romeda is playing with projected shadows. As handed-tracks lines, his sculptures and his furniture are casted in bronze in his Italian workshop in Brescia. We find out same figures casted in bronze in bases, retaining structures on which seats, chairs, tables or pedestals are resting. Romeda’s furniture gets perfect shapes from a sort of fossilized nature. The technical perfection, the harmony of proportions and bronze work, summarize Bruno Romeda’s work. Romeda was born in 1933 in Italy and died in 2017. He lived in France, New York and Brescia. The work of Romeda has been exhibited in numerous cities; his first personal exhibition took place in Brussels in 1962, followed by solo shows in Paris, New York, Barcelona, San Francisco, Monte Carlo, Baltimore, berlin, Erbusco (Italy), Venice or Tokyo. A significant number of museums own pieces of the artist such as the Metropolitan Museum of New York, the Kasama Nichido Museum of Art in Japan, the Contemporary Art Museum of Nice, or the Robert College...

David Kimball Anderson Sculpture Flowers in a Vase
Located in Surfside, FL
David Kimball Anderson’s work is bold and graceful, respectful and spiritual. A practicing Buddhist and avid surfer as well as a sculptor, Anderson has given way to 4 decades of work that revere beauty in nature and beauty in industry within his signature aesthetic. For Anderson, steel girders, dry leaves, machine parts and distant train lights are equally as compelling as strawberry flowers, begonias, Asian antiquities and the night sky. Editing down to essential form while adding a touch of embellishment allows his work to embody both minimalist formal truth and decorative adornment. Anderson’s art practice is a beauty-driven way of knowing the world. In this sculpture David Kimball Anderson assembles an arrangement of Metal artifacts...

Stanley Boxer Mixed Media Abstract Expressionist Painting on Paper, Gold
Located in Surfside, FL
Abstract, 1987 Hand signed and dated verso Not sure of technique. this might be a monotype or monoprint with hand painting. The handmade paper is cut somewhat irregularly as per the artists intentions. Stanley Boxer (1926-May 8, 2000) was an American abstract expressionist artist best known for thickly painted abstract works of art. He was also an accomplished sculptor and printmaker. He received awards from the Guggenheim Fellowship and the National Endowment for the Arts. Boxer was born in New York City, and began his formal education after World War II, when he left the Navy and studied at the Art Students League of New York. He drew, painted, made prints, and sculpted. His work was recognized by art critic Clement Greenberg, who categorized him as a color field painter, A group that included Barnett Newman, Clyfford Still, and Mark Rothko and was a form of Abstract Expressionism and later included Helen Frankenthaler, Ad Reinhardt, Kenneth Noland, Gene Davis, Jules Olitski, Raymond Parker and Morris Louis. Boxer himself was adamant in rejecting this stylistic label. Over the years, he remained loyal to the materially dense abstract mode on which his reputation rested.. Art critic Grace Glueck wrote "Never part of a movement or trend, though obviously steeped in the language of Modernism, the abstract painter Stanley Boxer was a superb manipulator of surfaces, intensely bonding texture and color." In 1953 Boxer had his first solo exhibition of paintings in New York City, and showed regularly thereafter until his death. His paintings and sculpture were represented in New York City during the late 1960s through 1974 by the Tibor de Nagy Gallery, then by the André Emmerich Gallery from 1975 until 1993, and finally by Salander-O'Reilly Galleries until its demise in 2007. Large Biomorphic Abstract Bronze Sculpture Phoebe Adams Wall Hanging
Located in Surfside, FL
"What Remains" Cast bronze with patina, 1985. Cast at Johnson Atelier, Hamilton NJ Exhibited at Guggenheim Museum 1985 Provenance: Sold through Grace Borgenicht Gallery, NY The second photo is the picture in the catalogue. I received it from the artist. I do not have the catalogue available. Studio handcrafted solid cast bronze Biomorphic shell wall sculpture. Abstract exoskeleton theme. This is a corner piece as can be seen in the catalogue photo (we do not have the catalogue). To be mounted on left side wall of corner, piece reached across to right side across corner (as per artists instructions). Phoebe Adams is an American female Post War & Contemporary artist who was born in 1953. Their work was featured in several exhibitions at key galleries and museums, including the Locks Gallery and the David Richard Gallery, New York. Phoebe Adams has been featured in articles for the ARTFORUM and the "New York Times". Phoebe Adams has emerged as one of the Philadelphia area's most prominent artists and has also achieved national recognition. Her unique cast bronze sculptures, to which she occasionally adds copper and wood, are rooted in physiological phenomena, appearing by turns archeological and anatomical. They derive from the tradition of biomorphism as pioneered by Jean Arp, Joan Miro and, more recently, Louise Bourgeois. Adams' sculptures evoke a wide range of associations with organic processes such as fossilization and decomposition and with natural forms such as shells, ammonites, human organs and bones, crustacean appendages, pods and cocoons. In her oeuvre images of growth and transformation are metaphors for psychic processes: the manner in which ideas grow, turn in on themselves and give birth to new thoughts. Her work has the organic aesthetic qualities found in the work of Michele Oka Doner, Lynda Benglis and Nancy Graves. Her work was included in the fourteenth International Sculpture Conference in Philadelphia, 1992. Featuring works by Phoebe Adams, Anthony Caro, John Chamberlain, Mark Di Suvero, Joel Fisher...

"Together A New Beginning", Bronze Eagle Statue Given Out by Ronald Reagan
Located in Detroit, MI
This exquisite bronze statue of two bald eagles is a patriotic commemoration of Ronald Reagan's inauguration, dated with the phrase "Together A New Beginning". This statuette is one of several that were given out to returning hostages of the embassy hostage situation in Iran. Only 50 of eagle statuettes were produced and for the purpose of giving to the returning hostages the week of Reagan's inauguration. This has been authenticated by Miley Busiek Frost herself and the provenance documents comes with the purchase of the statue. The design had come to her she was with her family in Wyoming, doing research on the American bald eagle. She observed a nest of eagles on a rocky cliff above the Platt River and she crafted a sculpture based on this theme. While watching Ronald Reagan's acceptance speech at the 1980 Republican Convention she took his phrase "Together, a new beginning" and gave her sculpture this name. When her sculpture caught the eye of those within the party led to its being accepted as the official commemorative piece for President Reagan...

Visual art is among the oldest forms of expression, and it has been evolving for centuries. Beautiful objects can provide a window to the past or insight into our current time. Art collecting enhances daily life through the presence of meaningful work. It displays an appreciation for culture, whether a print by Elizabeth Catlett channeling social change or a narrative quilt by Faith Ringgold.

Contemporary art has lured more initiates to collecting than almost any other category, with notable artists including Yayoi Kusama, Marc Chagall, Kehinde Wiley and Jean-Michel Basquiat. Navigating the waiting lists for the next Marlene Dumas, Jeff Koons or Jasper Johns has become competitive.

When you’re living with art, particularly as people more often work from home and enjoy their spaces, it’s important to choose art that resonates with you. While the richness of art with its many movements, styles and histories can be overwhelming, the key is to identify what is appealing and inspiring. Artwork can play with the surrounding color of a room, creating a layered approach. The dynamic shapes and sizes of sculptures can set different moods, such as a bronze by Miguel Guía on a mantel or an Alexander Calder mobile suspended over a table. A wall of art can evoke emotions in an interior while showing off your tastes and interests. A salon-style wall mixing eclectic pieces like landscape paintings with charcoal drawings is a unique way to transform a space and show off a collection.

For art meditating on the subconscious, investigate Surrealists like Joan Miró and Salvador Dalí. Explore Pop art and its leading artists such as Andy Warhol, Rosalyn Drexler and Keith Haring for bright and bold colors. Not only did these artists question art itself, but also how we perceive society. Similarly, 20th-century photography and abstract painting reconsidered the intent of art.

Abstract Expressionists like Helen Frankenthaler and Lee Krasner and Color Field artists including Sam Gilliam broke from conventional ideas of painting, while Op artists such as Yaacov Agam embraced visual trickery and kinetic movement. Novel visuals are also integral to contemporary work influenced by street art, such as sculptures and prints by KAWS.

Realist portraiture is a global tradition reflecting on what makes us human. This is reflected in the work of Slim Aarons, an American photographer whose images are at once candid and polished and appeared in Holiday magazine and elsewhere. Innovative artists Mickalene Thomas and Kerry James Marshall are now offering new perspectives on the form.

Collecting art is a rewarding, lifelong pursuit that can help connect you with the creative ways historic, modern and contemporary artists have engaged with the world. For more tips on piecing together an art collection, see our guide to buying and displaying art.
