A rare model of a French Empire mantle clock depicting an allegory to "La Prudenzia" or Prudence, Wisdom or Sound Judgement. This virtue is represented as a patinated bronze statue of of a classically draped bearded standing male figure leaning on a gilt bronze plinth legs crossed and with a sword in its scabbard by his side. There is an an open scroll on top of the plinth held in place by the figure's elbow arm raised and forefinger of his hand pointing at his temple in a gesture associated with thinking. The plinth housing the clock dial and movement is decorated with a serpent coiled around a rod which along with the sword and scroll are associated with "La Prudenzia".
The whole sits on a gilded rectangular base decorated with a finely cast frieze centred by a rondel showing the two Janus heads...

Its surface is adorned with a selection of patterns and motifs created using the traditional woodblock printing technique called kalamkari (or Qalamkari). The 400 years old technique originating from Isfahan, utilises only natural and local materials, celebrating and supporting the local communities.
A selection of repetitive, organic motifs adorns the cotton textile. The patterns are coloured in various shades of red, cream, and blue, their design inspired by religious Islamic architecture, in particular that of a mosque. Superbly cast, in the Neo-Classical style, the five scrolling foliate candle branches enclosing central sconces issuing from a circular wreath supported by the winged figure of Victory (Nike), wearing diaphanous robes gathered by a sash above a long underskirt splaying out from above her ankles, with beautifully feathered wings flowing behind her as she looks straight ahead. Each figure standing on one foot, the other bent, resting on a plain sphere over a reeded palmette-cast baluster pedestal raised on square plinth.
