Depression Era Pool Hall Painting

About

A very charming work with an ominous subject matter. The Salvation Army volunteer enters the gentlemens domain, with outstretched hand. Is she soliciting for donations, or perhaps heading for the empty barstool? The background shows pool tables and players, complete with overhead score keepers, and wall mounted cue racks. The unsigned work is oil on canvas, and may have been a WPA painting, as many were marked on the backside with removable labels. The image is a strong one that evokes much emotion. It is in very fine condition, with no issues, and more recently framed.
